Moderator Note, owner is NOT a Vanagon owner. Title changed to reflect this fact and moved to Off Topic.

Horrible story:

A good reason to install a theft deterrent, it may prevent you from ending up in the hospital.

Not that it matters, but wasn't the van owner in the hospital the owner of a Dodge van? My reading comprehension may have failed me.

Yeah but there is a Vanagon in the photo so it's still relevant - lol

Hmmm… the Westy is prominent in the video as if it were the attempted theft that was ditched. Meanwhile they stole a Dodge van that has not been recovered. maybe someone knows more.

Prominent is right, but the newscasters never even uttered the word Vanagon, such as in "and look at that fine Vanagon!" or "notice that beautiful Vanagon parked on the side..." How disappointing. I use the word Vanagon whenever I get a chance.
I hope the victim makes it.

I agree a kill switch would have prevented the theft of the Dodge.

Im very sorry to hear the owner was injured by trying to stop the 3 thieves.

He should have taken their picture and called 911.. easier said than done

An awful story, but messing with 3 guys stealing vehicles is not worth it. Step back and let them go.
Chances are they are going to drive it a few miles and ditch it. He would have spent less money and drama fixing his van.
Now he is going to have medical expenses and possible lifetime trauma.

too bad he was not able to stop these dangerous thugs. next time he should bring a big gun. these thugs evidently dont think life is worth anything so shot in self defense would be fitting.. these thugs if captured need to be sent to jail for a long time. make lifers out of them. scumbag garbage.

The vanagon just looks to be several houses down the street from the owner's house in line with the newsman's camera.

So help me understand the non use of capitalization? Is it like you are whispering?
There are a few list members who do the same thing.

Update: False alarm! The evening news showed the stolen van and it was a Dodge after all. I guess the only reason the camera lingered on the Vanagon is because it was such a fine looking van.

i do mostly lowercase too, it's just faster typing on the phone to skip capitalization.

you wont be injail if fireing in self defense. having a van driven at you is reason enough for self defense. heck just having a methhead attack you with bare hands is enough for a self defense justification.

hope they get these bastards and they get life in jail for attempted murder.

btw the title of the post is still wrong:
the stolen vehicle was NOT an RV

the contractor’s van. It is a white, 1995 DODGE"
