My take on it is like this;
I don't know about this particular car, but my psychic senses see...
The first thing that a new owner is going to do is likely drive it a bunch.
In short order, the motor being starved for air, fan robbing carbs of air, making it run lean, there will start to be a bunch of blow-by.
Couple that with shoddy balance work and poor valvetrain geometry, and the motor starts making odd noises after a few hours..
So it gets parked..
then,
From sitting, the cheap China rubber parts like wheel cylinders and fuel lines and even window seals start self-destructing. |
You're probably right Steve. I know I'd drive the crap out of any new car, until it started acting up. I also know you can run a stock 1600 motor (if properly tuned) all day long at 70+mph on the freeway (BTDT multiple times), so any compromise in the cooling is NFG to me.
Now don't get me started on rubber (from even the big guys) as that stuff is hit or miss any more. It's mostly crap that's available. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
