Hello, I have tried to look at all the info on the engine ID, but I can not figure it out.
The case halves are 26-311 101 101 K and 40 211 101 102 D the number stamped on the case is U0298549 it is not located under the generator stand. I have been told that it is a Type 3 is that correct? It also looks like it has the mount bosses in the front for the Type II set up.

"Bolt right up" to what?, what year bus are you thinking of using it in?
While it's apart drill and tap a hole for an oil pressure sender, that's the only really different feature from an upright cooled engine.

Can be used in a 1971 with no problems..another difference the type 3 case had is the oil filler neck was located on the bottom right of the case..but yours should have a delete plate over it..I can't quite tell from your pic..It just barley misses the bottom right of the sump from your shot..Do you have an open hole there?
