Hello I have a 1963 VW beetle. I am looking to buy the empi race wheels in a 6.5 size all around
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/170979489997?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

I want to the wheels to look good under the stock fenders without sticking out. I was thinking maybe a 195 or 206 60/15 in the front and a 215/60/15 in the back. Between offset and tire size. I'm not sure. Looking to get a nice wide wheel tire look while being equal to the fender like it was made for it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

They look like they might stick out beyond the fender? I am not driving a Beetle though, so I could be wrong. They would stick out beyond a Type 3 fender I think. They wouldn't fit if you lowered the suspension. We all like deep dish wheels, but alas they don't fit well on VW's. Evil or Very Mad

I will be able to answer some of this soon for you. I have a 69 that I am doing 15x6.5's in the rear with 205 50 15 drag radials. My front is a 3" narrowed beam with drop spindles. I am going to test fit a 15x6.5 but think I'll end up 15x4 with a 165-185 50 r15

So here is my update so far. The rears are 15 x 6.5 with 205 50 r15 tires. They fit nice but do stick out just a little, but that doesn't look bad. The fronts stick out to much so I am ordering 15x4 and running a 165 50r15 tire. I have wide 5 discs on all 4 wheels and when I ordered lug studs I ordered the 1.5 studs. Those were to short so I had to reorder studs from Moore performance that are 2.25" studs. Also you're going to need acorn lug nuts. Those are available at Moore also. I'll post more when I get the front wheels done.

a 165-50-15 is a super tiny tire. I would recommend another choice of a beetle unless you are super slammed

With my 1963 Beetle having short spline axles I believe I should be okay with the rear. 6.5 x 15 with 215/60/15 being in line with the fender. Still unsure about the front with 6.5 wheels with a 195/60 tire. Stock beam with zero offset disc brakes. Adjustable front beam maybe in the future.

Here is what I did. I ordered my rear tires and only 2 wheels, 15 x 6.5. When they were mounted I put the fenders back on to see what they looked like. I have a 3" narrow beam with adjusters and drop spindles and the 6.5 rim was about even with the fender lip. I just went with the 15x4 rim and a 165 tire. The 165 gives me 6" in tread face. Good luck

Ok so its probably that a 6.5 rim with 195/60 or 205 /60 tire will stick out the fender with a stock bean. So should I invest in a 2 inch narrowed beam which would allow me to slightly lower the car. Will I have any rubbing.

It's hard to tell. I test fitted one of my 15x6.5 with a 205 tire and the front fender and it stuck out to much for my liking. I have a 3" narrowed beam and 2.5 inch dropped wide 5 spindles. I am out of town and won't be able to mount the front tires to the 15x4 rim till Monday. I can let you know then, and if I can ever figure out how to upload pictures can put some up for you too.

I have short axles, 6" CMS wheels and 215/65/15 M&H DOT street-sport tires and they just barely fit under the rear fenders with stock suspension. I'll try to find a picture.

Looks right. I did buy some of these. The wheel say's its 14R radius ball and these bolts say they're 14R radious...but I had to shave off some of the hex sides to get the bolt to go all the way down to seat to the ball seat. And then it's almost like it's not making much contact. I wonder if ezaccessory ball ends are a bigger radius to fig correct...

Is that what you ended up with? 165/50 front, and 205/50 rear? I like the low profile look.

Yes that is what I still have. Car isn't finished yet so I don't know what the final stance looks like. I may try and find a drag radial with a little taller side wall.

It would fit/look better with 60-70 Series tires on it.

For some reason I couldn't find a 60 or 70 series drag radial.

It looks like this is the smallest drag radial M&H makes-
