You may notice that the CB fuel rails have inlets to the injectors that are more narrowly spaced than the bases on the factory manifolds.
If there is interest in some kits, I will machine fuel rails for this application so everything is square. |

If you can come up with a ball park number for your kit, I'd maybe go for one.

I'm thinking about $250 for:
4 Rebuilt Bosch EV6 injectors (with warranty, no core)
2 Fuel rails
and all the hardware, fittings, hose and hose clamps.
I'm still in the testing phase and would need to set up the machine processes for the rails. |

OK- it can be done. But answer, please: 1) does it change the fuel efficiency (gas mileage) measurably? and 2) does it give higher horsepower?
(ps, I've got a couple of 914s myself) |

there are injector hose adapters out there to keep your old (updated) fuel rail

That's a genius adapter. Really cool.
However, I think we all know the rubber "retainers", and I use that loosely (pun intended), are a pretty unreliable method of injector retention in the manifold. I see Vanagons regularly with idle problems that can be traced to the injectors floating around in their mounts.
I've been looking at the numbers on producing a kit this afternoon, and I'm now thinking about $190 for everything, which I would think would be fairly practical pricing. |

The two problems I'm attempting to address are fuel milage and availability. I know there are Lucas injectors that work, but I'm not putting Lucas anything on my vehicle. I'm trying to see if I can provide an affordable upgrade using Bosch EV6s.
Also, EV6s are made to work with ethanol mixed fuel while the EV1s are not.
I'm not planning to dyno the engine. It's not exactly a high-specific-output 2.1 at 43hp/L. However the fuel milage and quality of the tune are certainly improvable, and that's what I'm after.
I'll be in the testing phase for at least another month. I can tell you that the current injectors are a little lean under acceleration. I may get an adjustable FPR to get them dialed in. When I find the sweet spot, I'll probably get another set of injectors with flow to match at the stock pressure. |

Wondering if anyone has updates on their progress on this experiment. I recently picked up a set of original (used) fuel injectors for free, and was going to send them to WitchHunter for cleaning, but then came across this topic, and it looks promising. |
