Like I said mine were never drilled by Weber and I have never done it. That all being said I would still and tap top and bottom and be done with it.

If you go with the method shown at the link, you'd be depending on the o-ring at the plunger.
Can you not tap and plug the hole at the base? |

I like the way you think. Easy to tap and plug both ways. Just curious how others were doing it |

I am at about 200'. I got the car to run on all 4 it was not linkage (it would do it without it hooked up).
I started with the air bypass screws at 1/2 turn out and got best lean in no time and the pump jets do nothing at idle. I drove the car and it needs a bunch more tuning / jetting but it moves along enough that I got a bit squirrely around a corner.
I have spent far too much time on my car and not enough with my family so I am going to fix the important one.
I will update when I finalize the jetting just in case anyone ever searches.
Thank you all for you help! |
At 200' you'll need either 47.5 or 50. No higher than 50. Go down on your vents 28-30 with a 125-130 main. 180-190 air corrector jets.

From what I have been told and read I thought the vents should actually be a bit larger with a 40mm intake valve, more between a 34-36. Won't a 28-30 restrict the motor at higher RPM's?
I am no expert but I am trying to understand before I go buying more vents and jets. |

Read every page and post from the link below. Read it twice. It will take days This will make you a better tuner and help you understand the way carbs work.
Good Luck.
EDIT, Forgot the link as I was running to a meeting.

That won't be an issue. If the vents are to big you have issues at idle. 28-30 is where you want to be. I'd start with 28mm. Also be sure you clean them (carbs) real good as well as the distributor. _________________ 1972 Westy Hardtop/Type-4 2056cc
