Hi. Ok, its been 12v'd. No big deal. Its been done good and bad for decades. This '65 can be a very nice car, or a fzxk'n nightmare. A replacement engine, used or low mileage of course, might be $1k to $2K. But go and price body repair and/or rust repair where body panels/sections need to be replaced. This would also be true if your trying to source out an early car to turn back into a period correct car. Plus the year or two of downtime for your car.

I consider the 12volts an upgrade. The Motorola Alternators were not liked very well, they were the first ones to come out. But you know if it work's it's fine and they are pretty easy to put bearings and brushes into. I am not sure what is going on with the carb. Looks like they put an adaptor on there to move it up to run the Alternator or something. If it runs and drives nice then it's a good combination. I would be more wanting to find the stock air cleaner and warm air hoses etc...
