I stumbled across this the other day:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Taro

It's certainly just a Toyota with a VW emblem stuck on it, but I had no idea the two companies had any sort of relationship.

I want that grille for my truck!

I was watching a British Zombie Movie years ago, and the main characters were driving one of these.
They were made in Hanover Germany by VW until '94 per Wiki. So I studied up on this out of curiosity.
The EU was simply not allowing the Japanese imports, so the Japanese, Toyota , etc. did joint ventures with european auto makers,
and then Toyota did transplants into Britain to gain access to the EU.
The British Economy was in horrible shape at the time, so the Japanese knew that Britain would welcome transplants,
so Britain became the Japanese Beachhead for entering the European Common Market with little resistance.

is it just a re-styled Nissan or an actual Mercedes design built in a Nissan truck plant? Not a fan of the Titan trucks, and they might as well carry around an auxiliary tank in the bed.

If you ask the Mercedes engineer, they would say, it's a complete rebuild. I'm certain it's a Nissan with cheap Mercedes trim.

You would think they learned from the first generation ML, what a turd that was.
