Long-time lurker. I am hoping for help with this engine. The first character of the serial number is odd.
I do not know what vehicle the engine came out of. I know it is a single port. The serial number is located on the case, just above the dipstick. Is the first character modified? I am hoping someone can help.
Thanks, Jeff

It looks a mis-stamped or double stamped H?

The VW Logo and the engine-series stamp should be on the same "line" and the serial number can be on a different base-line. Agree with the sentiments that say it looks like a VW-F case to me and someone stamped over the letter.

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox.
