I have some lug bolts that are too long for my 1965 Bug wheels. The threads on these long bolts take up about 18mm of the length. I'm measuring the length of the bolt only where I can see threads.

What size (thread length) do I need for my '65? And where would I look to find these, are there any alternate types I can use?

John

18mm is a Bus lug nut measurement

Beetles are 12mm there.

Stock Bug lug nuts should be super easy to find, I am sure there are some i the classifieds here.

Here are 4 ads in the 58-67 section, there are probably more if you do a wider search

early bugs had a smaller thread diameter on some cars too as I recall.

I took a few pics to help illustrate

Here from left to right are at least five different examples the ones on the left, first two are originals. Like other hardware VW used more than one vendor.

Here's early and late bug, late bug is also fits bus.

Here are length measurements, looks like 1/2 inch to me, also expressed as decimal.

Thanks for that info - I didn't know late Bug were longer like Bus.

What is "Late Bug" though in this case? 4-lug or something different?

1968-1979 Bugs use the same length as a bus.
