After chasing my tail around for weeks I ended up at American Modern Insurance via Geico. The Geico guy completely understood that I was insuring a Manx copy based on a 1956 beetle exclusively for street use. Ended up with agreed value of $3500 full coverage with $0 deductible. $250 per year. So $20.83 per month. Cheap. It's my third vehicle.
Side note: paying insurance monthly is for chumps. The additional fees for monthly installment payments are BS and account for a huge percent of the cost. In my example, it would cost an additional $5 or roughly 25% more per month. In my opinion, if you can't afford the 6 or 12 month nut to insure a toy up front, you probably can't afford the toy in the first place. Rant over.

It took me over 3 months to find a company willing to write my Dune Buggy.. Hold that.. it's a "Kit Car".. BUT.. thanks to a Samba member who steered me to Infinity Insurance.
Advice.. Never EVER use the term Dune Buggy when shopping insurance.. ... all they think about are those over grown golf carts..
$150 ish a year..( 12.50 a month ) Collector Car, full coverage to 10k.
Some restrictions and mileage limits.. but it's ... legal.
You never know how good an insurance company is.. until you need to use them.. I hope I never will ..
It's a freakin' racket..

Got mine from Grundy, 5000 miles a year, $10,000 agreed price, and $157 a year. I did it on line, told them what I had and sent pictures of the car inside my garage. _________________ Beat it to fit...Paint it to match |

I have mine with Grundy too. Mine is closer to a 100 a year, but have less coverage. Reminds me I need to increase it some more. _________________ I do drive a Honda.

Mine is through Haggerty. I had to verify it was a true manx. It is 200 per year at a value of $12,000.00. It also has a limit on mileage of 2,500 per year. Nationwide owns Haggerty. |

^ Hagerty turned me down before I knew better than to use the term Dune Buggy...... "We don't insure Dune Buggy's ..sir.. " :fist:
Use Kit Car people...
Id rather have Grundy .. may change eventually to consolidate my fleet.

That my friend is the gospel truth!! And that is the reason I carry the minimum possible coverage. when it comes to a claim you will come away feeling more than a bit "reamed" no matter how much coverage you have.
Intac insurance covered our buggy under a collectable car policy. Just over $170 a year with a bare bones policy. The only restriction was that it could not be a daily driver. Ie: to work and back. |
