Has anyone installed an an air conditioner in a a PUMA GTI. If so what did you do for the ventilation/ blower install.

If you are asking if it can be done. Sure why not. There is plenty of room in the engine compartment for the compressor. I was looking at a thread on using a air box out of a Mercedes and looking at the photos I think you could mount it under the dash of a Puma in place of the existing fresh air/ heat distribution box.
As far as factory installs I don't think it happened. Keep in mind Factory AC was still a luxury in the 70's and late into the 80's. My Puma didn't have AC when I bought it new in 1988 and I didn't think twice about it it was common. |

I saw your's (or someone's post) on the late model rear set AC in a bradley or fiberfab - don't recall.
Wonder if the under dash unit from Delanair (old vintage) or more modern version from Gilmore or RETRO air has been tried or can be made to fit on passenger side without sacrificing all the leg room

That set up looks like it would work and with a little modification of the Puma center stack, I think you could make it fit and look like it was made for it. Keep us posted on the progress. I would love to see how it works out, not that I would bother with air in my GTC. |
