I'm building my buggy off of a 67 pan. I have come across an old bus tranny with reduction boxes. I would like to switch the axles to put the boxes on my tranny. I know that the spring plates will have to be changed. Do the bus spring plates work on the bug rear torsion? And where can I get the spring plates?

I'm trying to figure out how much trouble this swap will be, thanks.

Nathan

If you are going to use your type 1 trans, then you will have to flip the ring gear in the trans. If you don't,you will have one forward and 4 reverses because of those boxes.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know the geometry of the tranny would have to be changed.

I did a search and got a lot of good information but I'm still curious if the type two spring plates will mount to the type one torsion.
