JOGR engines? any experience? Good quality

Hi folks,
I have a 69 Bug convertible with automatic stickshift. My engine passed away yesterday on the way back from the allaircooledgathering meeting in Flanders.
Need a new one now! Currently there's a 1500cc build in. Looking for a good quality rebuilt or even all new 1600 dual port. Read a lot about GEX and their bad reputation.They are off the table. Does anyone have experience with JOGR?
What else would you recommend?

Thanks, but I' m especially interested in his engines. Didn't see any engine reviews there. Anyway, appreciate your help.
