No, it's an oil filter. Type 3 bypass filters return oil through a hollow stud in the breather housing mount. Follow the other hose and you'll see that it connects to the oil cooler via a fitting at the oil pressure switch.

This^^

The pick up tube for the oil replaces one of the studs that hold the fuel pump down.

Ignorant questions (since I've never seen these in person):
Do those panels replace the glass or fit over it?
Welded in place, or fitted where the glass would go in the rubber seal's slot?
What are the slots for in the rearmost panels?

The blinds are welded in instead the glass! The Splits are for the ventilation...

A friend brought these back from Sweden, he was cleaning out an old drawer at his parents place and found these. They are a soft embossed vinyl on a cloth backing. Any ideas what they were made for?

I'm not sure if these are Canadian or not but the second shoulder set I've run across.

Not sure if these are rare (the red pieces), but they are another step on the long road to restoration and they fit perfectly!

Not an accessory, but pretty rare: An NOS '62 83mm piston, shown with three of the original pistons from my '62.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

These first year 1500 pistons were shorter than '63-and-later 83s and they aren't interchangeable. I've been looking for one of these for several years in order to build a correct early 1500 to original specs -- many thanks to Peppe for coming through. Let the early 1500 build begin!

Yeah, now if I could only find some NOS '62 cylinders (also one year only, non-interchangeable parts). I've got a couple of broken fins on my car's originals. Sad

Portarack. Made in Sydney for a relatively short time. Most I've seen are pretty crusty. This one I saw in the parking lot of the Australian VW Nationals was the best example I've seen.
