I have a notch with a bamboo shelf under the dash that looks like it came from an early Porsche. is that an actual VW OEM part? |

VW sold a lot of aftermarket accessories with and without the VW logo. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

i saw a 63 variant in a meeting last weekend with a strange extra headlights
they were like a pair of fog lights but they weren't fixed to de frot bumper as usual. they were instaled in the sheet metal, just above the front hood and they had an access cover by the inside
it looked like that somebody took a pair of t34 small headligts and instaled them on the 31 but it was too well done to be a modification, the car was still in his original paint and the stickers near that place were still there
i didn't took any pictures unfortunatelly
does anybody have seen such an extra or modification? |

Is this what you saw?
These are type 3 specific foglights that attach to the front apron. Many of us have them but OUCH! the pain of drilling into a perfect apron! _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

no, those were round shaped and the sheetmetal merged into the chrome ring
behind the front apron there was an inspection port to access the bulbs, covered by a round shaped plate, fixed by 3 bolts
it look too well done for a hack job |

What's the real story with these? All I've read is that they're "French".... But why are they French? Why these opposed to the stock Hella? Was it because of a certain safety regulation in France? Did they appear in certain year models? Just early? So many questions _________________ Justin |

They are glass and they don't reflect much! for some reason the aluminium bezels are always dinged up! _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

Every country has it's own transportation regulations, so when VW or any other car manufacture built a car they had to build it according to that market. The parts list is full of country specific m-codes. _________________ '68 Sunroof Squareback
