I tried to buy that car when it was for sale, but I guess Rick beat me to it. I ended up with a much worse example of a Ruby Red '63 Notch. Oh well, I like a challenge.
However, that leads me to another question - what exactly is the criteria for "admission" to the 1500 club? Was Rick grandfathered in because he bought a car that was already in the club?
I guess I shouldn't want to be a part of a club that would have me as a member anyway. |

Now you're starting to sound like Tram. Jason keeps telling me that as long as you try and keep it as close to stock as you can (read page 1 to find out the rules), you can get in. There are some mods that are alowed, but it's with a wink. It doesn't have to be "anally correct", but it's gotta be close to it. There is some wiggle room, but as of late, the more correct (anally retentive), the better. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Early Split-Cap Fuel Pump different variation as seen on 1500 Club Member SoulVW's Newly Built 1500 Motor!
Has anyone this type of Fuel Pump? It has the split cap and appears as the same OEM type used on all of our early engines, but it appears to be new... not 50 years old new! Are these available somewhere, maybe as a replacement pump for a different car?

One and the same! Crazy Huh? Hope he never needs to find a rebuild kit for it... it may be difficult to find if it's different than the regular split-cap pumps. _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you." - Anonymous

Wow, youse guys need to get out more. Any brand or part number on it? Looks like an old stock Beck- Arnley replacement, probably a Pierburg. Looks like a Mercedes pump on the top. _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

All blurry. What's it say (besides "fuel pump")? _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

OK, Effbe is a European auto parts outlet that basically makes parts with diaphragms, as diaphragms are their basic manufacturing specialty. They're still around today. It's a German company with factories in several countries.
Effbe pumps are rather popular with the 356 crowd. I wouldn't doubt that one of the rebuild kits for a 356A would cross over. They're still available AFAIK. _________________ Give A Pal a Hand!

An NOS Pierburg Type 3 fuel pump rebuild kit I got years ago had a diaphragm with Pierburg and Effbe logos all over it. They must be (or have been) affiliated in some way. _________________ 5/62 343

So is the thrust of his write-up that these pumps are currently available as new, or are these NOS that have just surfaced? I am confused... _________________ Jim in Sacto -
