I can't speak to 64s/65s but my old 63 Notchback had M-code 260:

I thought it was more of a feature based on the delivery market.
My German-delivered cars have all had arm rests.

Probably easiest to down load and read the PDF, rather than try to look at the individual pages.

Very cool, thanks for posting.

This is cool, thanks for posting it.

I have a question for the experts here based on what is written on page 11 in that manual.
It says the center arm rest was discontinued, and I assume this is the back seat center arm rest.

In the 1965 Germany purchased 1500 S, very stock, that I now have there is an arm rest in the back seat.

Do most 64 and 65 1500s not have the arm rest in the back seat?

I see that on page 9 but not on page 11. Page 9 is in a section (pages 8-10) that focuses on the features of the 1500 (N), not the 1500S. I don't see anything in the 1500S section (pages 11-18 ) that says the armrest was discontinued.

Yes, the page numbers between what adobe reports and the actual manual are different. I was referring to the adobe page number.

The page number you mention is correct and is the books printed page number.

But I'm sure you already figured that out and the page numbers you mention are the ones I referred too.

All I see in the heading is 1500 Sedan with no N or S, is that because not saying 1500 S and only saying or printing 1500 indicates an N model by default?

I need to check mine for those bars that hold the hoods open, I don't recall seeing them in mine.

Manual vs. pdf: gotcha. On page 8 of the manual (p. 10 of the pdf) there's a heading that says "Volkswagen 1500 Sedan and Volkswagen Variant." That's the beginning of the 1500 section, and all the features that follow are for the basic non-1500S (N) model. It doesn't say "N," but that's what it is. On p. 11 of the manual (p. 13 of the pdf) there's another heading that reads "Volkswagen 1500S Sedan and Volkswagen Variant S," and that's where the features of the 1500S begin. The prop rod discussion comes before p.11 (p. 13), right? It doesn't apply to your 1500S.

Thanks, that makes sense.

I saw the "S" section below too but didn't know if the first section was just for general options on all 1500 cars.
I need to order the certificate soon.

So the VW Classic has moved to 21 June in Costa Mesa? Who's going? Is this not the VW Classic anymore?

OK, so who's planning on attending any of the events on what was formerly known as VW Classic Weekend? I'll be at OCTO for sure and I'm thinking about going to El Prado. Is ISP doing an open house this year? Anyone know of other events that might be of interest to us Type 3 types?

There's also the annual Type3/Type34 dinner at El Torito in Irvine but it's on Friday night and between work and Friday night traffic I doubt I would be able to make it down there in time.

Hey Jack, I'll probably see you at the Classic on the 21st, but OCTO, ISP, El Prado and the Type 3/34 dinner were this past weekend. Shocked Gizmo and I were representing the 1500 Club at three of the four.

Did I hear that Mr. Weigel might be paying us a visit sometime soon?

Notchboy was in town so we had to BBQ in his honor yesterday. Great to hang out with Pedro, Ron, Gizmobob and Jason. Thanks to Shane for hosting us and BIG thanks to Gizmo for lugging around 100 lbs of rare and cool VW literature to look through and pictures from the original type 3 days in Garden Grove. Really makes me think that we need to resurrect it for next year.

Agreed, now that The Classic has changed, maybe a type 3 only show would be nice. I miss the days when cars were sorted by type and style.
