I'll be at OCTO, ISP and El Prado for sure. Maybe the Classic too but I'm not sure if I want to make the slog. I might get too comfortable at Prado.

The toy show isn't happening this year. Check the bug in website for details.

does anyone have a source for quality front and rear brake shoes for my '63 notchback? It's a July '63, vin # 0205179. The guy that I was going to use to re-line no longer wants to do it Evil or Very Mad

I'd rather pay up front and return my cores for credit later if necessary, I really can't have my car sitting around waiting while I ship mine out, have them done, and wait for them to get back

any help would be appreciated. There is a set in the classifieds here, but he never emails back

Are the '63 notchback fronts different than the '65 squareback fronts? I think they are right?

I think Bill and Steve's used to sell shoes with a core required but this was a long time ago and I don't know if they still do that.

ISP West has them, I believe. If not, I have a complete set of re-lined front and rear shoe sets I'll sell you outright. I'll never use them. PM me.

ok, I'll look around some more today. Greg - I may very well hit you up on that. ISP needs yours first, then they will get them done, and then ship

Can someone help with the part number? At what point did they go to the "a"?

what I think:
311-609-237 till 10/62 - and If I remember that goes along with the wheel cylinder change

311-609-237A 11/62 until the 64 change

but I see people including ISP West all over the place with their numbers. ISP west says 311-609-237 to chassis 221974, Mines 0205179.

ISP West doesn't even list the A suffix, but nobody is perfect 100% of the time

311-609-237 until 1964
311-609-237A are some other special shoes with linings if you are having brake problems
(This is what it says in section B-8 above, section B-8 is the Brake troubleshooting section)

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this. But I noticed a bit of detail in one of my brochures "All about the Volkswagen 1500".

Then I was looking at this one:

What is the second one? Can some one please school me on the carpet detail here? Is there anyway to get the detail from the first photo? I'm trying to figure out the carpet on my 63' notch. It's almost all gone but the 4 ripped piece on one side is still there. I'd love to be able to have this detail!

the brochures where usually artist drawings based on the prototypes and design docs. The bottom picture of the NOS carpet looks correct to me, I would snap a pic when I get home from work, but my iPhone camera is acting up...

The top picture shows the correct heater vent for 1961-65 Type 3s. The bottom picture appears to be carpet for a later Type 3.

"It was a nice car, except for those incorrect carpet vent openings and the non-gold fan shroud" said no one ever.

Sorry, but these are the details that make a nice car into a fantastic car. I agree with the OP's concerns.
