Thanks for posting that video! Love that ingenuity! Awesome how ALL the VW's at the show had whitewalls. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

Skinny white walls at that. '61 was pretty early for that in my opinion
For Jason :
Once you watch, if you are signed in, the 1963 version will pop up. It's good too
Also :
Single Chevron and very nice black roof
So classy in white

Oh I gotta post this. What I loved about that 61 Frankfurt vid is the accessories. All the displays pimping those wares. Very cool to see the actual swag when it was new and relevant.
So for the later gys but for sure a nice view for all. This 1969 vid. At 57 sec in you get to see a young Tramuel on the left in his tan suit. Keep watching and the goodies start to pop out! Stuff all VW nuts go nuts for.

I want that 2800CS
The Frankfurt 1961 video is great. The Mercedes cars of that era are just gorgeous. _________________ 1965 Volkswagen 1500 Variant S

That's my old car!
Years ago there was somebody on thesamba selling original versions of those decals. I got a sign shop to make repros and that's what's in the window now. I sent one to Jason at the time too as a present... The rims were aftermarket chromies that I painted in the grey/black. When I sold the car all 4 OG rims went with it but somehow one has gotten lost. That was about 5 years ago. It is an early 63 car, dec of 62 production. |
Do you still have one for sale?? _________________ 62 Type 3 Notchback

The two biggest questions I get about being in The 1500 Club is ride height and wheels.
Even though I state in the rules - stock ride height and then generously give on the rim choice - as long as its of the era, primarily rims you could of bought in the 60's.
Yet people keep asking. I think they do because they have qualifying rims but the stance.....well may be a bit droopy
Here is a good qualifying example on my own car.
For my 64 notch I plan on having other rims. My choice is genuine Porsche 356 lemmertz wheel. I have yet to fit them but felt this a good alternative to the stock ones. I hope to clad these in some Continental tires for show and keep a radial road set on the stock rims for long distance. All the time keeping stock height.
I cant think of another member having real og Porsche rims? Maybe a repop chrome set? But not real lemmertz ones. The set I bought are all same date code matching set. They are painted in a silver gray color from the factory. I plan on restoring them in og color and run without the caps. Kinda like a rally look? Speed Racer look?

I remember asking you if it would be ok if I installed an IRS subframe under my Type 34, and still qualify for 1500 Club membership. You green-lighted that mod at the time. Would that still be valid?
I like the Lemmertz wheel idea, particularly since you managed to source originals. I briefly considered Stoddard's reproduction of these wheels at $159.00 a corner.
Wondering if I can I redeem an unused NONA sticker for a '1500 Another Amazing Volkwagen' rear window sticker in white? |

Still a 60's mod and could of happened in the day. Its never the the clubs intent to deny. Yet help find acceptance. I am one who can appreciate the ingenuity to improve back in the day. IRS is not only an improvement to a 68 and earlier car but its also unseen. All captured in the late 60's.
Those stickers need to be produced and will be. So please stay tuned.
Wait to see Aaron and his 64 ebuild. It will encompass some of the fringe 1500 rules on acceptance. _________________

Oh and on a side note. Of The cars I know.
Scott is #1 on getting his shit going. His 62 has been in limbo as long as this club has been active.%uck longer. Ever since Ive known you! And it was X old when we met??? Thats right Im callin you out bro.
Second place id you Gregg. Fuck you win the most pragmatic award. Shit or get off the pot! Your t34 has got to be gold plated by now? Do you want to actually drive a T34 before you die? God dahm! Put hat car on the road. I only give Scott slightly more sit as I know him better But the two of you for christ sake take the cake.
After the two of you I can only think of my involvement with Tram. We love to hate. Someday by God there will be a T34 1964 Anthracite Vert. Or Ill have a blow out on parts after Tram is dead. One or the other God damn it! Shit gona happen.
Send your stuff to the T3 Factory. Where the sOcAl sun will work magic on your T3 - add a little patrone and Carne Asada and you gots a driver. Flip flops optional. _________________

No argument--my progress has been nothing short of glacial! The next 3 weeks are mine, so maybe I make some tangible progress.
Later in 2017, I want to drive from Denver to Springfield to Grants Pass to Yuba City, and then on down to Cayucos in September for the Rally. Sounds too good to miss! |

Rules are easy to understand!! That's why I haven't asked to join as my 63 is slightly lowered! Not slammed but gently lowered! I'll be on the lookout for the decal for the rear window (the repopped one from Volkswagen). Keep up the good work! _________________ 62 Type 3 Notchback

I believe Scott is actually making headway.
