What kind of stub axles are you reffering to?
The realy good racing disk kits are pricey but you can get fronts for about 200 and rears for around 300 from So. Cal imports in Southern California. Check out Hot VWs magazine ads. |

I am converting from swing to irs with 4"X5" longer arms with 930 CV's. After looking into my disc brake options I saw the huge price difference for stub axle set ups. Why is this???

Chr/Moly are stronger. Stock will do a great job for 90% of cars. If you need the extra wheel travel then you must pay. Vic

The cheaper stub axles will be stock ones modified for larger T2 or 930 CV joints. The more expensive are made from new forgings as mentioned.

Micro stubs are shorter, which means you use a longer drive shaft, which in turn means you get more wheel travel before the CVs reach their angle limits. Don't think micro stubs can be used with stock IRS trailing arms, though.
