Hi, I'm getting my 1302s 72 Super re-painted. I was thinking more of a pearly yellow paint insted of plain yellow. Anyone have photos of their bugs with a pearl yellow paint I can use as an example? Or even just nice examples of Yellow? Please post 'em!
Thanks!
Megs

I would steer you towards one of the "Chromalusion" colors by Dupont. My favorite color is "Course Purpleen". It is a metallic light blue that changes to a metallic lavender. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
You can buy Chromalusion on ebay for $150 pt. (Retail price ($5000.00 per gallon). You will need about 6-7 pts for your super when mixed with chromabase and activator.
Chromalusion is applied over jet black base, typically. It must be cleared. Not hard to spray, though. I use it all the time on my sculpture. Photography doesn't do this stuff any justice. I'll post a pic anyway. _________________ NTHANG, LLC |

It's not a bug, but this is the color mine is gonna be when and if I ever paint it--
It's Honda Indy Yellow. Mine's gonna be kicked up with about twice the pearl the formula calls for.
Sometimes it pays to work for a paint jobber. |

When I went in to get my paint, it was gonna be the brightest yellow I could find. Then.....I found kandy tangerine orange pearl!! I have painted 5 other cars since then, all pearl but the last one. I will say the pearl colors look way better IMO. |

I've always found that pearl paint detracts from the vintage styling of old cars. Kind of reminds me of 80's customs. I have seen a two tone bug in a sort of copper pearl/cream pearl combo that looked awesome though. I think what I'm getting at is...the wrong pearl colour can really screw up the overall look of a car...never seen pearl yellow though. _________________ Wanted: flipseat parts: rear jump seat, folding chair, cups |
