Bottomend: Did you ever get to see the video? I've got a bit of time tonight and can re-encode it to .MOV format for you.

Shark! I have not yet seen the video! can I watch it in MOV? is that the same as Quicktime?

Muff, tell me about your R90/6. Just whatever you do, dont tell me it had one of those ugly Windjammer fairings stuck on the front....

BTW, it's a little weird that we have the guy who inadvertently wrote something that would end up being a quote, the guy who the quote is about and the guy who coined the quote all posting in a row.

Yeah, I heard about that 205 MPH deal.... two guys racing near Chicago...

Report also said that 7 others have been killed recently doing the same shit... Rolling Eyes

I like bikes and I like to go fast occasionally but that is stupidity at it's finest ( worst?)

.MOV is QuickTime's format. I'll do it tonight and PM you.

Ya'll swamped my server downloading the original video. Very Happy My bandwidth got nailed and my site shut down for a day or so. Luckily for me it was the end of my billing month so it came right back up. But I had to take the video down.

Keifernet, I'm with you. I LIVEING testement that crashing on bikes can get ugly. Luck can only walk with a person for a certain period of time... then it's time for justice to kick in and swing it's sorry sword. Please dont get started talking about my Honda CBX . 1050 cc, 6 cylinder, 24 valves, 100HP, 130 + Mph and sounds like a Ferrari. It was a 1979 model and it's a tiny little kitten compared to whats availible today. I couldn't imagine riding whats out there now.

It had a dealer installed Luftmeister fairing and hard bags. I'm not a big fan of fairings, and I ran around without them quite a bit, but they weren't to bad, paint matched and pinstriped and all.
I am constantly on the lookout for another older BMW. They are the bomb baby!! Very Happy

amazing that so many people have bikes AND busses!
best thing about living in germany is driving past polizei on the autobahn at 120mph and no problems! still makes me cringe tho - it feels so weird!
a bit harder now it's got - ahem - easier breathing pipes and k&n goodies!
worst thing is getting fined for 26mph in a 20 zone! or for parking on the wrong side of the street -
vfr750 cos the girlfriend wasn't impressed by fireblade! Confused

Actually, In the USA right now, 'reality television' is all the rage... I think it would be pretty interesting to watch these guys go from one break down situation to the next. I mentioned the idea to them and it was met with silence....

Maybe it wouldn't have mass media appeal, but for we VW types, it would be great. I still have a shortcut to the "movie" on my desktop and play it every couple of days. I love to be reminded of Bottomend's generosity and persistence, and the hippys' spirit and optimism. Maybe it could be the samba's first movie or web-based series? Smile

Just think what a following they'd build up.

You could sell the right world wide and send them on a round the world trip and where ever the broke some star hungree mach would be there to help.

Any money collekted could go to the grease foundation for promoting generostiy and frenship (am I getting a bit carried away her?)

DAN

ps I need to a link to the .mov movie cause I'm in macland too.

Had to wait days to get back on a computer to read the next bit after I got about half way through. What a story I laughed so much!!
We're about to head away to 6months in Europe with four kids and a dog in a bay, that will be seven if you include the dog. We sure hope we meet VW folk like you Bottomend. Hubbie is a newbie to all the engine stuff, me too, so lots to learn from all the posts.
Good luck to you all especially you hippies.
Little kids here give us the hippy sign when we pass in our van a VW is a timeless symbol.
I'm with you Bottomend let it never end, find a way to keep in touch
thanks
Suzie

Thanks for the kind words from Ireland and England!

I think it would be great if you and your family could post along the way during your 6 month vacation. A little loggin in to the Samba board from time to time to keep everybody abreast of your travels. Start a thread and I know you'll get alot of response's!

BTW, I just walked by the cul-du-sac to the burrito stand. I cant help but look over to the spot where the hippys were camped out and wonder....

Nope.
I'll give leader a call and see if he answers the phone. For all I know they might have tried to take the bus to the east coast like they were talking about and broke down again.
Is anybody checking other forum boards? Who knows... There might be the same sort of thing going on somewhere else that happened here!!!!

If they get to New York or New England, I am available as a mobile resource. I would only charge them enough to get a cup of coffee Laughing
