one of my wheels is bent. If i cant straighten it i'll have to match the new one to the color of the others.
What are my options, how do i know what kind of paint to buy? Can i paint it myself?
Girls ask the dumbest questions but oh well fuck it you guys are VW Gods so I am in good hands right? Razz

what year and model vw?...some vw types have standard colors for various model/years and you might get an exact color. also check wolfsburg west's online vw color charts

it is not hard to paint wheels, do you have spray equipment or are you thinking rattlecan job?

just mask off the tire and make sure the surface you are painting to is clean of flaky paint, rust, brake residue, and grease (which it should be if it is a new wheel).

not sure if new wheels come primered in a quality primer or not. if it is bare steel, your process should probebly include etching the metal with a metal etch product, then apply a primer, then paint.

one precaution you should take is to file or sand off the paint where the lugbolts hold the wheel onto the hub. This is because the torque that is required to attach your tire to the hub can crack the paint and allow the wheel to loosen on the hub. worst case scenario is the occasional wheel falling off. so be safe and remove that little bit of paint...
good luck...

depending on how bad the rim is bent,it prolly won't be able to be strighten the wheel back to true.
if you have to get a replacement rim, think about painting all 4 of your rims so they will match. or,... just get one rim and run it and pray you can find a match at a swap meet or,...
take a picture and post an ad in the wheel section and maybe someone will be able to come up with a match.
