not kraco or the underdash ones-i can still find those. but i am talking saphire or ? has anyone ever seen one? i saw one at a show one time and was too damn cheap to nut up and buy it. i think it may have been empi. if anyone knows feel free to chime in...

If you're asking what stock VW tape players were available when, here ya go... I have service manuals listing these:
AM/8-track - 1967 Sapphire VIII model A7MV
1971 Sapphire XVII model 1VW4112
1973 Sapphire XXI models 1VW4309 & 5VW4309
1974 Sapphire XXI models 1VW4419 & 5VW4419
AM/FM/MPX/8-track - 1974 no Sapphire designation, models 1VW4412 & 5VW4412
1975 no Sapphire designation, model 1VW4516
AM/Playtape - 1968 Playtape I model PA8MV & Playtape II model PP8MV
None of them are easy to find and they were all made by Motorola. _________________ ~~~~~~~~
