In this TV ad for the new Porsche Panomera, its active cruise control maintains a safe distance from the car ahead...in this case, a very nice late-model Karmann Ghia.

I wonder how many viewers/potential customers saw that ad and thought.. "Ooh, neat, they're showing an early Porsche out in front..." _________________ Air does not freeze. Air does not boil.

Spotted in Woody Allen's 1977 film, Annie Hall. A blue Ghia coupe passes in the background while Alvie (Allen) and Annie (Diane Keaton) are chatting at a sidewalk cafe in NYC.

In the 2002 film Two Weeks Notice, a blue Ghia convertible can be seen caught in the same traffic jam as Lucy & George's (Sandra Bullock & Hugh Grant) car. Lucy gets the bright idea of using the bathroom in that motor home stuck further back in traffic when she suddenly has an overwhelming urge to answer 'nature's call'. Judging by the hubcaps and the small outside mirror, I'm guessing it's a '67.

An early '60s Ghia convertible makes an appearance on Chasing Classic Cars. It can be seen thru the raised engine cover of a Maserati Bora in Wayne Carini's shop.
Mechanic Roger Barr getting out of the Bora with the Ghia in the next bay.

That's most likely the '63 Cabriolet which was purchased by the Gene Langan VW dealer in Glastonbury, CT (SE of Hartford). The actual color is a much "richer" turquoise/Pacific blue, based on photos which a local friend took at the dealer's display. |

I'm wondering if that's the 1961 Pacific Blue Cabriolet (with fitted luggage) I saw listed for sale about a year ago. It was for sale along with a very original 1962 Pacific Blue coupe. They were located in the Boston area. The seller was a long time collector and was trying to sell them as a package deal. Was there also a Pacific blue coupe at the Dealership? |

Another Karmann Ghia pops up on Chasing Classic Cars. This time at a Colorado auction where Wayne was selling a pair of vintage Saabs.
↓ The two-tone Lowlight is marked 'Not Sold' in this guy's catalog. No surprise after seeing what the estimate was. It's not all that clear, but I think it reads $82K-$92K

Just saw a clip of that scene from 'Dukes' on a Netflix show about automotive design. The designer being interviewed grew up watching the show on TV.

Screen shot of a Ghia in the movie, Northern Soul starring Joshua Whitehouse and Steve Coogan (the latter having had the lead role in the movie of my book, Shepherds & Butchers, where he drives an Alfa Spider as the filmmakers couldn't find a Ghia in South Africa).
That guy on the right is just blown away by the Ghia, I think. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

A green Ghia coupe can be seen in the background of this 1995 Nike TV ad. The guys are stringing a tennis net across a street. Sorry for the crummy pic...

You wrote a book and someone made a movie of it? Congrats!
Edit: I see that is true from some Googling - Wow, very cool.
