I have not heard anyone mention Kuwahara (spelling?) I had one in the 80's and it was the so light. Now I have a 24" Specialized Vegas that I cruse every now and again. |
Wasn't Kuwahara the featured bike on the ET Extra Terrestrial movie? |
I forget which pro's rode in that movie. |
Hmm...I recall Bob Haro and Mike Buff doing work on it. Haro said he was the one who knocked the gumball off the cop car. _________________ Gary

I raced BMX in the early 80's and before then I built my own bmx bike out of a Schwinn Stingray. I had Ashtabula forks cranks and neck, and I have pics of me jumping it. When I got my first Mongoose, in 1979, I raced it and got third in my first race, still have the trophy. We raced La Mirada Regional Park, Azuza BMX track behind the Eagle Lodge, Norco/Corona, and some place way down by Del Mar. I eventually moved up to a full race JMC, try to find one of those these days, big bucks!

These pie plates are what you raced with if you didn't have a plate or your number was taken.
This track official's book is awesome with some stuff inside that many folks have never seen.
These are very early bikes I built. The top and right hand pics are a girls bike with double down tubes but I put a cross tube on it and a pad. The left pic is a Stingray with a few mods.
This was the dream.
And this is 81 on a chrome bmx, not sure what it was.

Red, none of your photos are showing up. Could be my confuzer, but if not, I'd love to see them.
I rode freestyle through the 80's. Always on a Haro once I stepped up from dept store bikes. (Murray and Huffy)
Had two Haro FSX's, then a Haro Master. I was never very good, but we had a lot of fun. Friend had Redlines and GT's mostly. I still have some of my old BMX and Freestyle mags. I have a bunch of old Dirtwheels mags, too. _________________ nothing |

Oh well I guess they got deleted because I had them uploaded on The Samba and that must be illegal. I did just get a nice retro bike to ride but I can't put that pic here either so you can't see it but it is amazing. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam.
