Working on my money pit today, A 58 bug and I'm down to putting the Epoxy Primer on (DPLF PPG ) This is my first time , I purchased a LVLP DeVellbiss gun, mixed chemicals as directions, 2part primer 1 part catalyst, set the air pressure at 23lbs as per gun spec. set up some masking paper to shoot at to set fluid flow and fan width and can't get hardly and material to come out unless I open up the valve almost the hole way, I've tried a 1.4 1.6 & a 2.2 fluid tip cleaned the gun every time I changed the fluid tips and when I run Lacquer thinner through it sprays a nice fan, totaly lost, I'm thinking the paint is too thick but it doesn's say to add any thinner to it.

if it's thick,thin it.
somethings are not written on the lable,
but they don't normaly don't list instructions as it's assumed
you know what you are doing.
different guns and compressers spary different so thinning
is needed per applacation, user and personal likes. _________________ Frank

What exact gun are you using? Not aware of any lvlp devilbiss model. A 1.6 or 2.2 tip should spray that easily. You can thin with dt reducers at a max rate of 2 parts dp , 1 part dp402lf, 1/2 - 1 part dt reducer. That mixing rate will set dp up as a sealer so not much film build |
