Bought their full-flow set up, (pump, fittings, stainless steel lines, adapter ect.) - quality stuff. Their vented valve covers dont leak and their welded/balanced fan is a work of art.
Tim and the whole crew are always super nice and helpful. A real class act.
The only bummer, because I live 2 miles away and walk in, I dont get the candy. |

The only bad part about them is that I think they know me by the sound of my voice on the phone. I'm fairly certain Tim is tired of answering my questions and Kathy has memorized my address.
According to the tracking my exhaust should be delivered today and I couldn't be more excited about it.
Great people and an unparalleled product. |

Just bought a temp dip stick from them. I got it three days after ordering. Kathie also sent me an e-mail with the total. Super fast shipping and incredible customer service. _________________ 63 T1 Ragtop Gulf Blue

I cannot praise this company enough.
I wanted a Berg shifter for my bus but I wanted a ball shifter not the T handle.
Contacted them and even though they dont make them for RHD they scourced the raw material and had one made up for me in RHD
Thanks. they are the best
And loved the candy,,, where can I get some???

HOLY WOW, I just got my sump today and the thing is a CHUNK of METAL I tell ya. This thing just looks sturdy as all hell.
You know what the best part is? I haven't had these in 20 years, they don't sell them in the midwest that I know of.

Thumbs up for Gene Berg Ent.!!!!
I screwed up and ordered their Type I 40/42/44 DCNF manifolds...I forgot that they use Fan Shroud mounted linkage...my carbs are set up for Carb-to-Carb linkage. So their manifolds are too short.
I called them, spoke to Dee, explained the situation. She authorized the return of the parts.
They credited the full purchase price back to my credit card...no 20% restocking fee!!!!
No fuss, no problems... |

Gene's kids spent their early years growing up in my neighborhood in the Seattle area. They had been gone probably 10 years by the time I was a senior in high school, but there was still a rather devoted and hard core group of guys running "Nova-stomper" bugs up here, including the father of a classmate of mine running a car called the "Sonic Muffin". I think that car is back in the Berg family (Doug, maybe?) now.
Fast forward to the late 1980's....I am working on my first bus purchase, a 68 baywindow camper conversion, and I am running thru top ends like nobody's business. I had been taking engine build advice from someone who appreciated Gene's quality but didn't really understand the extra stress that was involved in having a hot motor in a bus. While most every part in that motor was a Berg part, the heads were not. I had multiple top end failures in a vehicle that I intended to run on long trips, sometimes for thousands of miles at a time. Not an ideal situation.
I finally decided to get some information on my own and called GBE. Gene picked up the phone. I told him who I was, and while he didn't remember me as one of the kids from the old 'hood, he didn't seem to mind spending some time listening to my problem(s). When we had spent maybe 10 minutes going over how my engine was configured, he summed it up with a rather short statement and some advice; "That cam is allowing your valves to shut like a cheap screen door, and it is inevitable that your valves will fail." I went with a milder cam and laid out some big late 80's bucks for some heads from Gene.
Now to the present day: That motor is on it's third lifetime (three different cars that have been sold while I have kept the motor) with me. It has over 100,000 miles on all the reciprocating mass. I have replaced the case once, but just recently, and have disassembled it and put fresh bearings in. Other than that, it is still running every bit as strong as it ever did. I get lots of comments in VW circles when they see the cool GB DCNF 42 Weber kit I bought from Gene....it is rather unique, and works really well. Take a look at this picture and you can see the Berg stamp on the manifold casting. Linkage was part of the kit as well. I don't believe these are sold anymore.
I have only the one air cooled car now, and my VW sickness is now more like an occassional attack, but any time I need a critical engine component, there is only one place I will buy. I am glad to see that Gene's family has continued to operate the company by the standards he set so long ago. |

It's like Jewish Christmas when this shows up at your door.
I've be been a customer for 30 years and have never been disappointed. Whenever there's a question, I just call and either speak to Tim, Clyde and years ago Gene. _________________ Glenn

I know... neither is Gene. I'm talking about my 30 years experience with GBE.
The ladies in the front office are also excellent and very helpful. _________________ Glenn

No... that was 3 years ago. My timing was perfect, I called and they had everything in stock. The box was at my front door 10 days after I called.
Inventory is a issue, so order as soon as you know you need parts. _________________ Glenn

I have installed the RHD ball shifter they made for me in my bus.
I have been using it for the best part of 4 months.
It was well worth the wait, I would not use anything else.

Looks like as much as six months lead time for a 1.5 qt sump. Luckily they had an oil filler/breather for my application in stock. |
