Hello-you guys are the best! There was a British detective series on PBS a few years ago that had great footage of a squareback throughout; unfortunately at the finale, the bad guys torched it. Anybody out there happen to know the series name and if I can buy it on DVD? Any other suggestions for T-3's on videos? I've seen a hawaii 5-0 with a nice, crisp notchback. I bet somebody out there remembers a cool chase scene from a show like Adam 12 or maybe Streets of San Francisco or whatever.

The two most well known are the late model squares in "Witness", Harrison Ford, Amish kid in hiding. Harrison Ford borrows the car and hides it in an Amish barn.
And "The Stoned Age", two stoners cruise around all night looking for a party. They drive around in a blue, graffiti covered squareback. I expected something to happen to the car, considering the way it looked, but it survived the movie with no mishap.

i was watching that new show numbers on cbs and the main characters hero/perfessor character steps out of what appeared to be a squareback. it was tan and the only shot you get is a split second of the back driverside, but only partial because of the other cars parked. i swear i saw vents and the early model taillights but i could be wrong. it was a very short shot. however, i posted a topic when borne supremacy came out and it had a late model notch in it. i am watching it now and i can verify due to pause that it was in fact a notch with a late model front end.

There's an early square in "Dirty Harry", it makes several appearances near the beginning of the movie during the bank robbery. There's a lot of other early 'dubs in that movie as well.

There is a square outside the 2001 nightclub in Saturday Night Fever

There is a red or orange square in the movie Car Wash

There is square in Dog Town and Z-Boys when Stacy Peralta is talking about growing up, it shows a photo of him as a kid in front of a square.

There is a black square towards the beginning of Woodstock the Movie

None of these are more than a few seconds long on the screen though.

Jen Anniston drove one in the movie "Rock Star", also starring Mark Wahlberg(Squareback). Another Squareback was seen in the original "Rocky". I would guess a lot of movies from the 70s and even early 80s would have some Type 3s in there-they were, for several years, the 2nd best selling import car behind the VW Bug, in the US.

There is an episode of The Saint from the late sixties that takes place in Switzerland. Roger Moore gets in to a white squareback taxi. But during the trip he mysteriously switches cars, ´cause when the trip is over he steps out of a white Ford Taunus stationwagon....

Aussie tv has been showing the tv series "Adam 12" alot over the last year and I had never heard of it before then.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062539/

There is so much footage of the streets in 68-75 and you see aircooled cars all the time. It's just nice to see and I watch it mostly just to see the old cars.

Spotted a type 3 and a split window this morning.

Thinking I had seen this subject come up before, I did a little Samba search.

This one seems to be the main one:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2...mp;start=0

These are a couple of shorter lived similar topic/ repost type things, but a couple shows are mentioned more than once:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224076

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1...p;start=20

Hope this helps.

Someone mentioned The Stoned Age above, car was named the blue torpedo. Well Danny Kass (the snowboarder) has a replica of it that's pretty much identical. Instead of the nuclear/radiation symbol stenciled on the front fender he stenciled on some sponsors logos. Shits pretty fresh, stumbled upon it on instagram, I'm sure there's other pics online too.
