June, 2005 • Located nice used original Barndoor taillight, need one more
February-October, 2005 • Waiting to get replacement Barndoor rear end...  didn't work out
January?, 2005 • Blew first and second gear(?) hauling concrete to the dump
July 24-25, 2004 • Resealed passenger rear axle
• Tightened and safety-wired shift coupler

June 8, 2004 • Stripped a few more primer spots from the roof line
• Touched up driver's side lower paint that had been ground to metal by a dumb previous owner with some Dove Blue

June 1, 2004 • Cleaned and repainted old set of 16" rims to mount the new tires.  Powder coating of new set won't be ready for the Classic

• Straightened driver's rear corner

• Adjusted doors
• Prepped and painted headlight bucket rear sides (inside cab)
• Prepped and painted edge of driver's door frame
• Prepped driver's front side for touch-up
• Disassembled driver's window frames to install correct glass and new seals
• Stripped and cleaned new Barndoor-style front bumper
• Sealed up a few open bed wood holes in the bed with silicone
• Removed a couple various hooks that were screwed into the rear gate

• Located a correct church key, thanks to MW

• Cleaned rear engine tin and rear apron
• Replaced hacked-up crank tin with good used piece
• Partially removed mystery primer from driver's side
• Cleaned all glass, removed all sticker residue
• Added missing door panel screws
January 13, 2004 • Installed temporary set of rims/tires for upcoming trip.  Thanks to Jim for the loan.
• Tightened fuel tap - it was leaking
• Cleaned engine and transmission
• Replaced driver's side axle boot
• Installed license lens
• Greased shift linkage some more

June 13, 1999 VW Classic - purchased hoops and wood
April 30, 1999 • Noticed my "new" 40hp exhaust was cracked at the damper connection, had a friend weld it up.
April 23, 1999 • Messed around with the oil pump studs a bit more, drilling and tapping galore, no resolution yet.
April 11, 1999 • Picked up a complete used 40 hp exhaust at a local show.
March 20, 1999 • Messed around with re-assembling the 40 hp engine a bit, broke off some oil pump studs, doh!
February 20, 1999 • Reinstalled original split-case rear end, slapped on some temporary tires to get the Single Cab moved to my new house.
January 17, 1999 • Completed spring plate painting, installed 'em
January 16, 1999 • Reassembled transmission side plates
January 1 and 3, 1999 • Reinstalled input shaft, cleaned out old seals.
• Cleaned side plates.
• Removed spring plates - cleaned, prepped and primed.
• Installed new transmission oil seal.
December 31, 1998 • Purchased replacement side gears and fulcrum plates
August 26, 1998 • Determined necessary items needed to install tunnel-case transmission setup.
August 15, 1998 • Cleaned and degreased heater boxes and other misc. parts.
• Was wondering why part of driver's side body was primer and not original paint so I lightly sanded part of the area down with 400 grit sandpaper.   Weird, just primer over some original paint and some bare metal, body is straight, perhaps PO wanted to take off some surface rust?
August 14, 1998 • Found set of correct 36hp heater boxes, split-case Type 2 nosecone, and ground strap.
July 24, 1998 • Picked up excellent used split-case rubber nose cone seal and 36hp rear tin.
July 23, 1998 • Found good 36hp engine, may use in vehicle.
July 22, 1998 • Removed axles/brakes from transmission.
July 21, 1998 • Removed rear end from vehicle.
July 18, 1998 • Removed engine to replace oil pump and crank pulley washer, transmission drive shaft came out with the engine!  Dang...
July 14, 1998 • Sent letter and money to Germany for factory data
July 5, 1998 • Wired and installed tachometer, oil temperature, and oil pressure gauges and senders
• Checked operation of oil relief spring
• Changed oil to 20/50W, changed filter
• Noticed front 'skin' was replaced with NOS piece
June 29, 1998 • Miscellaneous clean-up of engine compartment
• Installation of 40hp rear engine tin
June 23, 1998 • Purchased parts to place Single Cab into daily driver duty
June 22, 1998 • Adjusted shifter
• Examined vehicle for parts needed
