April 5, 2001 • Rear end work continues... Tranny nosecone bushing is worn completely out on one side, nosecone and hockey stick will need replacement due to excessive wear.
• Continued cleaning rear end of truck now that the rear end is removed
• Removed and disassembled bumper blades and sent them to be straightened, spent some time hand body-working the bumper uprights
March, 2001 • Removed transmission and rear end to fix transmission side plate leak.
• Resealed side plate, installed new driver's side axle boot
• Spent many hours cleaning transmission casing.
• Purchased new transmission front and rear mount bushings and new rear brake hoses for installation
• Installed NOS heater cables
• Removed engine "extras" to reseal generator stand
February 18, 2001 • Replaced carb. with another rebuilt 28-PICT-1, I was having some trouble with stalling at idle and proper air/fuel mixture, I think the old carb. may have an air leak around the throttle shaft.
January 14, 2001 • Siliconed bed slats holes until I "get wood"
• Installed kick panels, splash pan, and knee guard
• Sealed up heater tubing a bit better
• Removed radio (its broken), disassembled for a look-see, noted someone has messed with it internally.  Installed block off plate
• Tightened up turn signal assembly on column
• Removed dash grab handle, noted dealer-installation holes in dash (sloppy drilling), verified dash handle is real VW, and cleaned it up with some Ammonia and Bleach (not at the same time, ha-ha)
January 13, 2001 • Installed tilt
• Removed generator, local parts place first says it's bad, then it started working on their tester, reinstalled generator, everything works.  Maybe it got wet from rain leaking in through the empty bed slat holes?
January 12, 2001 • Wiper shaft fell apart, while it raining of course, reassembled it in the hardware stored parking lot while 10 yards away some homeless lady was screaming at no one in particular
• Red light on!  Installed spare regulator, no fix, brushes look good, generator must have went out.
January 9, 2001 • Rebuilt carb., replaced leak carb to intake gaskets, tuned carb., dwell, and timing.
January 8, 2001 • Check tranny fluid, greased shift rod
January 6-7, 2001 • Fixed high beams, license light
• Troubleshoot stalling problem
• Cleaned undercarriage some more, engine compartment too.
January 1, 2001 • General maintenance, reinstalled front door panels, repaired turn signals, changed air cleaner to one that doesn't leak oil, cleaned dirt off undercarriage, installed painted front emblem
December 28, 2000 • Changed oil, set valves, timing and dwell check
• First pass at cleaning engine and tranny case
December 24, 2000 • Purchased original tilt assembly
December 20, 2000 • Purchased at 64,896 miles
