A local VW guy was able to clean up my axle seal housing so I reused it.

Installed new axle seal kit and reassembled rear brakes.
•
Installed more new fuel line
•
Topped up tranny fluid with GL-4 from Napa Auto Parts
•
Road tested vehicle on highway after filling up with Super and checking
the tire pressures. Drove great, "accidentally" hit 85 mph
on a slight downgrade.
•
Pressurized washer bottle to full pressure, it blew apart at the hose
junction in the spare tire well, that explains the surface rust in the
spare tire area.

•
Reinstalled fuel pump cover, installed new engine compartment fuel lines,
installed T for gas heater fuel line. Fuel line clamp on oil cooler
was upside down, corrected it per pictures in my shop manual.

•
Renewed fuel line and clamps for gas heater in front trunk.
•
Removed spark plug wire ends to look at them, 3 out of 4 broke.
Replaced all spark plug wire ends. Noticed seal on end of spark
plug wires:

•
Driver's rear axle seal has a leak, removed driver's rear axle nut (it was
only finger tight with no cotter pin!), drum, brake components, and axle seal housing.
Attempted to renew seal but it is frozen in the housing, left it to soak
in some PB Blaster rust breaker.

•

fuel filter
•
Fixed rubber washer for metal fuel line in engine compartment, it had
