This year Naturalbus will be held May 31 - June 3 and once again we will be raffling off a bus with proceeds going to the Roanoke Ronald McDonald House, which is near and dear to our hearts! This is a benefit event where 100% of the money raised will go to our Fallen Hero BRAD FOX's Family. On September 13, 2012 (the eve of his 35th birthday), Officer Bradley M. "Brad" Fox lost his life while on duty protecting the citizens of Plymouth Township. Brad left behind a pregnant wife and young daughter. We feel this is the least we can do for Officer Fox's family and will donate 100% of all money raised to his family in his honor. This is our 2nd annual car show and last year we were able to raise money for fallen hero Deputy Kyle Pagerly and in doing so we had a great time! This year we want it to be the best it can be and want all to have a great time while attending. All are invited to enjoy the show and enter. Food, Band, giveaways, trophies and much much more. This year, the Jamboree will be at a new venue, on the grounds of Hood’s Service Center and Motel, located on Greene County State Road K between Historic Route 66 (MO-266) and Interstate 44 (Exit 61) Over the years, the GROOVE June Bug Jamboree has become a summer staple of VW owners and enthusiasts. The theme of the upcoming event is "GROOVE’N Down the Mother Road" and includes a Volkswagen car show, entertainment, vendors, competitions, car corral and a 50/50 pot. Friday night (June 7) entertainment by Delta Sol Revival and camping for show participants is available on site. A new web site, http://www.junebugjamboree.net has been launched to provide official information about the event. In addition, The Giggle Box Project, a local non-profit, will be on site with the Giggle Bus doing face painting, making balloon animals, and spreading happiness. GROOVE has designated Giggleboxes as the benefiting charity for this event. Giggleboxes’ mission is to spread the healing power of laughter to children in hospitals. A Weekend Event featuring : VW Show --- Swap Meet --- Campout --- Cruise --- Dinner Get-Together Thompson Memorial Park, Hudson, Michigan Friday, June 7 -- Saturday, June 8 -- Sunday, June 9 Hey Volks Folks! Announcing a weekend get-together for VWs of every type -- air- and water-cooled, vintage and new, stock and custom and everything in between! It's a new event, a car show, swap meet, campout, cruise and social meet-up for VW enthusiasts in the Midwest region. This is an event not sponsored by any one VW club but rather for any and all VW clubs, organizations, and individuals who'd like to promote and participate in this weekend festival celebrating everything and anything VW. While it is being pitched to VW enthusiasts in the Midwest, VW enthusiasts and their VWs are welcomed from everywhere, far and wide! The Midwest VW Jamboree will feature a campout for VWs on Friday and Saturday nights in Thompson Memorial Park ($15 per person per night, kids under 12 free). On Saturday there will be a lunch get-together beginning 11:00 AM at Rumors restaurant in downtown Hudson. After lunch at 1:00 PM we'll take an activity cruise through the beautiful south Michigan countryside, including stops at a buffalo ranch (wagon ride entry into the ranch and feeding the buffalo free of charge courtesy of Lake Pleasant Recycling; horseback and zipline rides available for nominal charge -- visit horseandbuffalo.net ) and then an optional stop at '50s-themed Sidekick diner for a snack and impromptu VW show. We'll return to Hudson by 5:00 PM. The evening will feature a pot luck dinner gathering and live entertainment in Thompson Memorial Park beginning at 6:30 PM. The big show and swap meet will be on Sunday starting 9:00 AM. The event will also have a non-perishable food drive to benefit a local food pantry for the needy. The city of Hudson, Michigan in the extreme south central part of the state, just over the Ohio/Indiana border, has graciously offered to host the Midwest VW Jamboree show at their beautiful and spacious Thompson Memorial Park, in walking distance from the city's downtown. VW Clubs wishing to participate are encouraged to bring and set up their club banners, signage and a small booth to represent at the show. The park has a large play area and baseball diamond for those needing a break from the VWs (hard to imagine, but you never know!). Also, dogs, cats, even giraffes are welcome as long as they are leashed and cleaned up after (Please note: giraffes must be wearing some article of VW-themed clothing in order to be admitted to the park). The night before Litchfield we have our annual Bug In Bash starting at 6:30 at the fairgrounds. This is an informal gathering of VW people with free food and plenty of conversation. A good way to unwind before Sundays event. Camping on Saturday night at the fairgrounds for $15 a vehicle. Clean , modern restrooms open from 4pm to 10 pm on Saturday. Hot showers on both mens and womens sides with attendants present. Portable bathrooms available from 10pm Saturday to 6am Sunday morning. At that time the fairground bathrooms will open for use. Vendor spots are $30 a space . Spaces are approx 20 feet x 20 feet in size. Showfield and vendor fields open at 7am on Sunday morning. We have both outdoor and indoor vendors spots. Indoor spots and upfront spots are $45 each. For those spots you may set up on Saturday. Car and driver for showcars are $15, additional spectators are $9. The annual VW display is put on by Three Rivers Volkswagen Club. This year we are celebrating our club's 25th anniversary and will be having a fantastic party at the PVGP. Our show is one of the longest running car shows at the PVGP. Our show is a trophy show with trophies for the Best Air Cooled and Best Water Cooled VWs, with trophies given out each day and a special Best of Show overall that is given to a car that comes for both days of the event. We are adding more to the event each month, so check back often. The car show runs 9 Am to 5 Pm both Saturday & Sunday. The cost to participate in the weekend cars show is only $30. Entrants park on the golf course and receive a free dash plaque and race program. Conversely, Public parking on Flagstaff Hill is $15 per day and you park half a mile away and do not receive a race program or dash plaque. Sorry no single day discounts for car show entrants. Many of the car shows are hosted by car clubs and include options for lunch and other amenities. Outside of that, the event is free to the public, and remember. All proceeds go to charity. This year we are raising money for Michelle Combs Michelle has Stage 4 Breast Cancer. She's also a mother of two girls, Abby (14) and Savannah (9). She's married to the love of her life, Todd, for almost 18 years. She's a daughter and a loving sister. Michelle's battle began January 21, 2005 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 34. After a double mastectomy, removing her lymph nodes, 16 weeks of aggressive chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation, it was finally gone. Her life went on. They bought a house that they shared with their many friends and family. She was happy and healthy. ... Around October 2010, Michelle developed a cough. Could it be exercise induced asthma? Whooping cough? No. It wasn't. In January 2011, they discovered tumors in her lungs. On a very sad day in April 2011, at the age of 40, she started chemotherapy again. She went to MD Anderson in Texas and to the National Institute of Health in Maryland for treatment. This is a very aggressive, fast moving cancer that is not responding to conventional treatment methods. After 8 months of chemotherapy, it's not working. Her tumors have grown significantly according to her latest PET Scan. She has a partially collapsed lung and tumors in her legs, knee and pelvic bone. Her only option at this point is alternative cancer treatment. Guess who doesn't pay for alternative cancer treatments? Insurance. Not a dime. This is why we need your help. Recreating our nation's first outdoor music festival held in Duvall in 1968 we will be filling the day with live music- culminating in Jr. Cadillac to finish the show. Hot air balloons will be on hand to lift visitors high above the valley for spectacular views. Our Centennial wines and beers will be flowing while we host a VW car show right in the heart of the festival with vintage motorcycles on display also. To end the evening we will be recreating our legendary 'piano drop' as we let our psychedelic beauty fall from 150 feet. Always fun! After visiting events in Germany like Bad Camberg and Hessisch Oldendorf, we wanted to bring an old German atmosphere together with strictly Vintage Volkswagens. The Phoenix Club in Anaheim, California is a true "old school" German Cultural Club, as well as the perfect host for an event like this. Our first event held in September 2007 turned out to be a big success, and the plan is to hold it every other year opposite the Solvang Vintage Meet put on by the Golden Gate Chapter of the VVWCA. With only two months planning and notice, the February event turned out to be a huge success with close to 260 cars and over 2500 people enjoying the perfect Arizona sun-filled day. Again this will be an Event that will celebrate the cool vibe that was at Woodstock with live music and a fun festive atmosphere, plus adding the next coolest thing of all – VW’s! Volkswagens of any year are welcomed. This will be staged on several grassy acres so shoes are optional. We will have hours of live music, vendors of all sorts, a swap meet, games for kids and adults, various food vendors, and the grooviest of raffle prizes. Expect to be present at a festival and not just your ordinary car show. There will be plenty of space to spread out to throw frisbees and footballs ….plus this will be a kid and dog friendly event. All will be encouraged to dress in their hippest 60’s fashion as regular attire will look out of fashion as bell bottoms, big hair and round glasses will be visible on all…. If you can, campout Friday and Saturday night. Relax Saturday night into the evening as the bands will play after the sun goes down. Saturday, November 2nd at Sheely Farm (location of the Halloween Fear Farm attraction) 99th Ave and McDowell Rd., West Phoenix, Costco is across the street and other shopping, food, movies and business are located within walking distance. This year we would like to invite everyone to come join us on Saturday, December 7th as well to participate in all of the activities that go on at Old Town and the surrounding area. The main attraction on Saturday’s is of course the display of classic cars of all makes and models, 1973 and older and of course the world famous Old Town Cruise where the cars are allowed to cruise down the brick streets with thousands of people from around the world standing and showing their appreciation for those of us who have captured and maintained that part of history. However, be aware that Old Town's rules on Saturday night says your classic must be 1973 or older, so if you have a problem with this, please do not come and expect them to make an exception, it will not happen. See our website for other rules that apply. However, Old Town has agreed to allow us the opportunity to have special parking on the West Side of the complex for our show meaning that we can park all of our cars together including 1974 and newer, as long as the newer cars do not cruise. Of course the older VW’s (1973 and older) can park anywhere they like so if you have that burning desire to park among the other classics you are welcome to come early starting at 1:00pm and pick your spot. The live band/activities on the Old Town stage start at 5:00pm and continue until 11:00pm with the stores and parks staying open well after midnight… Anyway, check out our website often to see further details for Saturday and what we will have going on. We also once again have special rates being offered by The Seralago Hotel & Suites Main Gate East for those who would like to spend the night starting at $40 for a family of 5. Our normal show will be held on Sunday, December 8th as stated above and we plan on starting earlier and ending sooner to help accommodate those traveling from out of town/state. We plan on opening the gates at 9:00am and ending the show officially no later than 4:00pm with our own cruise down the brick streets starting at 3:30pm. Old Town doesn't really start to wake up until 10:30-11:00 so this will give us a little time before the rides, shops, restaurants, etc., start to open. However, we plan on having our own entertainment, thousands of dollars worth of prize give-a-ways, the best decorated car contest, etc., going on throughout the day and will even keep it going for those die-hards who would like to hang around until 5:00pm. This year we will be giving away a turn-key 1600cc dual port engine so you will definitely want to come if for no other reason than to participate in the drawings. The price of entry is a minimum of one new unwrapped toy (or a donation of $10.00) for the children we are trying to help however we do encourage everyone to bring as many toys as possible. Some of the most popular toys requested by the children are books and bicycles. Last year we had over 220 attend the show and were able to fill up a 7 ton Marine truck with our gifts.
