I'm the proud new owner of a '72 Ghia convertible...

I would like to get your recommendations for a good/reliable VW mechanic in Houston (preferrably, on the NW side of town).

Also, would like to hear your recommendations for someone in town who knows how to work on the convertible tops.

Thanks in advance...

I'm sorry to say almost no one in Houston is worh a shit when it comes to VWs. You can go to Uzi's in West U:
Uzi's Autohaus 4201 Bellaire Blvd - Houston, TX. 713-664-4950

They are very cool and know about VW's or you can go to Jeff's Bug shop in Bellaire but he's a total dick.

You're kind of on your own here in Houston.

Surely you're not including Keifernet when you say that. Have you met Keith before? And if so, what kind of work did he do for you?

Never heard of him. Does he have a garage? It would be nice to know there's someone who knows what they're doing here because God know I don't.

Did you read any part of this thread?

Yes, he is in Houston and he has a garage. He's been working on VWs for many years, is honest, charges fair prices, and does great work.

send him a PM if you need any work done:

I sent him a PM eariler... problem is he only own's an 86 wasserboxer Vanagon Westy... which I do not work on.

And I am sure he is having a hard time finding some one who can work on that model in these parts that really know's what is going on.

No one from the vanagon/eurovan forum can tell you where to get that coolant dripper fixed?

Aw, that sucks. Come to think of it, I dont remember ever seeing a Vanagon in Houston, for the 6 years that I lived there.
