I purchased the below item in attempt to hook up a shift light. I had the thought that I could just splice from the tachometer signal wire as the feed to the rpm switch; however, I cant seem to get it right.
According to a diagram found on thesamba, the tach signal is on the ground side of the coil. Per the instructions for the RPM switch, "Connect the yellow wire to an RPM signal. Most likely the primary side of the ignition or to an RPM signal from the engine computer or ignition box".
Am I wrong to think this would work?

Read next line in instructions..... IF you are using conventional points or electronic module use white wire, your RPM signal is at 12 volt... Way below the 30 volts required on yellow lead....

Perfect thank you. I was slightly worried to jump to that conclusion and test it out. I also had a hell of a time figuring out why my gauges were not working, turns out the battery was charged just enough that I could get it started but not run anything else. |
