Tube chassis for manx cars   Price: 1950 +
I build a replacement for the shortened VW chassis for your manx type cars.. I started doing this about 15 years ago and am still having fun doing it. My chassis has been developed from what I considered a need for a stronger base for manx cars. I built my first buggy in the summer of 69, That's 1969, last century, for you young kids out there, and had a buggy on and off since then. In the OLD days I used to go autocrossing in vw cars and buggies, eventually ending up with a buggy that won all the races for a year and a half, My buddy and I had a lot of fun, good old college days, we also did some Formula Vee racing, learning alot about setting up the VW chassis for road racing. Engineering and Art school, good days back then...and now.
Now I build chassis for your short buggy, long buggy, drag buggy, woods buggy, tall .buggies,, and low buggies and of course the "normal" dune buggy. Normal would be the buggy simply using the vw beam and rear suspensions, they can be set up to be lower, or raised up for off road play. If you want the lowest buggy out there, I can raise the front beam and rear torsion/suspension to lower the body over the tires. If you need a good off road desert car, that can still be driven on the street, I can raise the body using a taller side member, AND dropping the suspensions front and rear to get you more high center under the tub of the car, speaking of the CondoR chassis, one of the best sellers in the west.

I also build a "full tube" chassis that surrounds the body with tubing, with a truss showing on the outside of the body, leaving all the valuable room in the buggy for your body and comfortable seats, instead of tubing. For this chassis, I will need YOUR body, I cannot build it without you body. This applies to the full tube chassis only.
For the flat chassis, I build it to fit the 14 1/2 shortened pan cars, MOST fiberglass buggies are made to fit the 14 1/4 pan and I will not need your body to make it fit.
I do offer a service of fitting the flat chassis to your body, simply drop off your body and all the tub edges will be built to fit your fiberglass, not all the bodies out there were built the same, the Meyers bodies didn't all come up measuring the same dimensions either, and lots of them sat out in the field too long to be the same shape they were built to. My flat chassis is built to the proper dimension of the 14 1/4 shorter vw pan, same outline and same profile for the front and rear "humps" or bulkheads.

I can build a chassis into a roller, prices depend on all the specific parts you want to use.
You can also check out the Kubel Lite car I have started building, It is from 5 years of drawing, changing, and getting what I wanted in a cross between the old VW Kubelwagen, the earliest dune buggies, specifically, the EMPI Sportster, and all the buggies I have driven over the years. I have been driving the prototype for 4 years now and It is exactly what I wanted in a buggy. 88 inch wheelbase, room for three kids across the back seat, 8 inches wider than a buggy inside for more than enough room to be comfortable with anyone in the passenger seat.
Give me a call to talk about exactly what you need in a chassis for your buggy.
