Joeyís DíLid just back from paint
Vert Decklids - Louvers pressed in OG D'Lids   Price: $495. - $595.
Thank you for choosing Vocho Werks for your project and metal parts. My D'Lids are formed by locating a donor D'Lid, repairing any prior damage like broken hinges, rusted supports, etc. and then pressing in the Louvers. They are NOT PAINT READY, they are 70-80% and ready for your Auto Body Tech to complete final paint prep. Every painter wants to take them down to bare metal and build up to Paint Ready. For this reason and to keep costs down, I do not complete them all the way to Paint Ready. When I have in the past, the painter just strips everything back down to bare metal and starts over. I do, however, take every DíLid down to bare metal by bead blasting them. Most likely, your painter will want to Skim Coat the entire D'Lid before painting and this will mask over any minor imperfections, like weld marks, etc. If there are any holes from positioning the Louver Die, these can be filled with a Tig welder and Silicon Bronze. The D'Lid has been covered in CRC 3-36 oil base rust inhibitor, which will need to be cleaned off prior to painting. Be careful not to cut yourself on sharp edges and store the D'Lid away from humidity, so that any bare metal areas won't flash over with rust.
So, to conclude, Iím bead blasting the entire DíLid original German OG DíLid, pressing in Louvers, making hinge repairs and marketing the DíLid at below normal Auto Body hourly rates. At $595. thatís about 7 hours of work in any auto body shop. The result is a DíLid investment that will increase in value and you donít have to go to every local swap meet, scavenging for the Holy Grail of DíLids.
