Let's go over the basics.
All outer lips are raw steel
All inner barrels are raw aluminum
All centers are powder coated a color of your choice. Chart of colors can be found here.
All wheels leave our facility details, torqued, ready for tire unless we install those. If we install tires, due to the volatility of the tire market, matching tread pattern tires will be expertly mounted, balanced, along with new valve stems. Wheel and tires packages will be detailed to perfection before packaging.
Let's talk about what lips work with what and what the PRO's recommend. These are recommendations and not guarantees. You will need to check vehicle for fitment prior to ordering to ensure fitment is ideal for your ride.
Dealing with some of the finest wheels on the market, we know that it is difficult for some to attain them due to their cost and most of all, stay with in budget. With our knowledge in the "plus size wheels" side of the market, we wanted to create a wheel that would stay classic enough but still be cool. Introducing the 17" Smoothie!
Made in the USA, our 17" Smoothie passed DOT Specs and are now certified! The first aftermarket wheel in the VW industry with this certification!
Smoothies Broken Down
Here are the specs on them.
2 offsets are available - 5.250" and 4.625"
5x205mm Bolt Pattern to fit early Model air cooled VW's
Center section will be made out of a forged Billet 16" center that will incorporate a "cogged" rear bolt pattern to bind the steel wheel to the billet center.
Incorporates the factory hub cap clips that are screwed on instead of rivets
Under the hub cap will be an exact copy of the factory wide 5 15" smoothie
These wheels come standard in RAW form, ready for you to detail. Meaning, steel hoop non-painted & billet center ring machine finish. But you can get them powder coated in a finish by the PRO's who care about fit and finish.
Recommended Front Applications
1949-79 US Spec Beetles & Karmann Ghias will need a 4 inch narrowed beam to be able to tuck these wheels with drop spindles and disc brakes with 5.125 inch back spacing wheels.
Recommended Rear Applications
1949-65 US Spec Beetles & Karmann Ghias outfitted with short axles will not have to change anything in the rear and will run the 4.625 inch back spacing wheels to create the staggered look. 1966-68 US Spec Beetles will need to run the 5.125 inch back spacing models if the vehicle is currently running long axles in the rear. If you want to run the staggered look in the rear, you can run an 1.250 inch wider fender or change the axles out to the short axles from 49-65. Karmann Ghias can only run the 5.125 inch rear wheels. 1969-79 US Spec Beetles & Super Beetles will need to run the 5.125 inch back spacing models due to the IRS configuration. If you want to run the staggered look in the rear, you can run an 1.250 inch wider fenders.
Type 2 Bus Applications
1955-79 US Type 2 Buses will need 5.125 inch back spacing wheels. Rear applications will need to be the same unless you have installed a straight axle configuration in the rear. Then you can run the 4.625 inch back spacing wheels.
Porsche 356 Applications
You can run the 5.125 inch fronts and 4.625 inch rear with out issues on the 356s up to 63.
Type 3 Applications will need 5.125 inch back spacing wheels up front and if outfitted with long axles or IRS, you will need to run the same wheels. If you convert to short axle, you can run the 4.625 inch back spacing wheels.
