VW Westfalia diesel '82 Price: $19750
I have owned this 82 Westfalia diesel since I first moved to California in 2003 and in the last four years have have been focused on restoring her to pass this amazing vehicle on to someone who will enjoy and appreciate the westy for many years to come.
When I first purchased the van in san anselmo (california), she just had a new 1.9l normally aspirated diesel engine (from Overland Parts) installed which has less than 30,000 miles on it. Transmission had also just been adjusted to enable up to 70mph on the highway. Over the years since I've owned her I've replaced pretty much everything.

Has had thorough mechanical check over by Karmakanix in Berkeley and also by my local mechanic here in Chico.
**More pics can be seen on my craigslist ad:
p.s. a few people asked me why i've listed this as good rather than very good or excellent. Reason I listed it as good condition rather than excellent cause I don't like to overstate a vehicle's condition. I'd rather you feel it is better than presented in the ad when you see it than worse. For me excellent means looks like it's barely been used and kept under cover all its life etc whereas this one has been well used and has some visual imperfections. However to me it does look in really good shape. As far as the engine and mechanics ago, when I took it to Karmakanix in Berkeley, Steve the owner advised me to really consider keeping it as takes such a long time and a lot of work (taken me 15 years) to get a van to this level of mechanical order.
There's a couple small little things I haven't done, I have some close up pics on my craigslist ad (link above) if you like so you can see couple dents. And the handle of sliding door only works when it has key in it or if opened from the inside.
Another part to mention is that it has a dual coat paint with integrated clear coat, and I chose this less expensive option (just under $5k) rather than the $10k paint job where they would take the whole thing apart and sand it all down completely so it shows as an ok rather than excellent paint job.
Anyway, all said this is why I'm selling the westy for $19750 rather than $25k
Let me know if you have any more questions : )
