1973 VW Thing   Price: 18000
It's time that I offer my beautiful and restored 73 VW Thing “Hilda Mae” up for sale. The reason for selling her is to begin another project I have owned her for 15 Yrs and throughout that time I have constant upgraded her for Performance, Safety and/or Aesthetics. All of the Mechanical and Bodywork were professionally done and I have the majority of repair bills. The present Milage on the New 1776 Engine is 6038 miles.

The following is a Partial List of the Upgrades and Repairs.

In keeping with the policy of full disclosure, there are a few issues that need to be addressed, those being [1] a Tear in the Convertible Top and [2] No BN4 Eberspacher Gas Heater. If sold at the asking price, I will deduct the price of a new TS convertible top from the selling price. As for the BN4 Eberspacher Gas Heater I removed it because it didn't work [very few do], I didn't need it because She is never driven in Winter or cold weather, and I never trusted a Gas Heater so close to the Gas Tank.

My VW Thing is truly a unique, versatile vehicle and a Head Turner. It never fails wherever I go I get honks, Peace Signs and other “interesting” gestures from other drivers. In Parking Lots I often meet other VW Owners and Aficionados s who want to talk about my VW Thing. As advertised “A VW Thing can be anything you want it to be.”

I based my asking price on the Hagerty Classic Car Values and taking into consideration the issues I previously mentioned. The Hagerty Values for a VW Thing is $31,200 Excellent and $22,600 Good. I and others believe that my 1973 Thing is somewhere in the middle nearer the Excellent Price. With that being said I am only asking $19,500. Since I am not desperate to sell, I am pretty firm at that price. However, I will entertain realistic offers .If the Buyer is in Virginia the Kewl Personalized Antique Plates convey. Please no lowball offers!! I will consider a trade for a Single or Double Cab Doka
