78 Bus Camper, One Of A Kind Full Camper   Price: $37000
1978 VW bus Camper, one of a kind

Due to my back surgery I have to sell this great bus. I just had the 2L Fuel injection engine professionally rebuilt with all new parts that cost me about $9000. It has less than 100 miles on the new engine. It drives fantastically smooth and powerful, perfect and ready for traveling or daily driver.

I have spent so much time and money that, even though I have kept all the documents and receipts, I have lost track. Why? because I had not planned to sell it.

This bus is one of a kind; a hybrid between a Riviera and Westfalia; at least I have not seen one. I bought it as a Riviera since I like the penthouse top( all original) better that the Westfalia type, and it was in a great shape with original stuff. But the inside was cheap wood work. I took the bus apart and fixed small rusts ( pics) and located and bought every single part of Westfalia interior on the samba from all over the country and refurbished them one by one and transformed the inside into a Westfalia.

I custom made the propane gas tank location and all the connection ( pic) that is better than the tank under the bus( pics). I have a whole folder of papers and receipts of what I have spent on this bus! Check out all the pictures in link that shows the process of building this bus. I have driven this car all over California from on Coast high way to Yosemite to Sequoia national forest, to the deserts etc with confidence and never had any issues(pic)

In the last 8 years I put about 12000 highway miles on it before I rebuilt the engine. The odometer was around 24000 when I got it and now it is around 36000. It has either been in the garage or covered while parked.

The paint is not original and in my opinion is just an average paint job. There are some window bubbles, other than that it is rust free. If I were to keep it , I would paint it for showroom purposes, otherwise it is fine.

Brief summary of some the stuff I have done:

Repaired small rust areas ( pic on the link)

Painted the rust areas with high quality professional grade antirust ( not the ones from Home Depot)

Insulated the entire inside for noise reduction with roof insulation l, custom made wood strips for the floor to even it up for the Second Skin mat, a very expensive noise reduction stuff all over the floors, doors and panels

Placed Second Skin mat on the floor and door for more noise reduction ( pics)
The walls were insulated with Styrofoam blocks ( pics)

Wired the inside for audiovisual, recharge stations, inverter installation, voltmeter, backup camera, all connected to the house battery( deep cycle second battery)
Expensive boat relay (BLUE SEA System with starting isolation) for connecting the two batteries
Under car anti-rust spray coating professionally.

Original curtains from Riviera, although I don’t like them I kept them.
Perfectly preserved original headliner

I Kept the city electrical connection from the Riviera that supplies the bus while camping on campground with electrical outlet, you can either hook the city line or a generator; So you can both use all the outlets in the bus and charge the house and main battery while camping. All tested and working well.

Perfectly functioning fuel injection system with complete components (new Charcoal canister)
Just passed the smog in California after installing the new engine!!!!

Engine: rebuilt with brand new high quality parts (heads, larger valves, lifters, bearings, shafts, alternator, and many more; cost me around S9000). Very powerful engine now, There is no leak.
New clutch everything,

Complete upholstery done by the West Coast Classic Restoration (Lenny; the guy is not cheap, I
think I paid about $2000 for upholstery, I) here in orange county

New floor mats, seat mat, seat belts, sun visors headlights, side lights, headlight grills( guards)

New JVC audio with blue tooth just installed( the original radio not touched)

Genuine new German fuel pump, German fuel pressure regulator (everything German to the best of my ability), etc, etc. I have the perfectly functioning the fuel pump and regulator that I removed as back up.

New high quality speakers, audio system connected to the house battery ( the original radio still in place untouched and functional)

New roof rack, bike rack, kayak rack, New mud flap, bumper rubbers (not installed)

New Steering box tie arms etc, bushings, transmission, tires, real axle, mirrors…

Custom made porter potty housing, electrical porter potty (never been used)
Clear tint front windshield for heat deflection. I had all the car windows tinted but took it off because it didn’t look good on the bus (it beats the purpose of bright interior of the Bay Window idea!)

I have so many extra items like the the bus cover, foldable picnic table, Westfalia mosquito nets for the side door and the back door, TV( the wall holder is installed and is used as needed), fan and new awning ,that I never put together, that I include in the price.

Other items such as wireless temperature monitor , Engels refrigerators, Yamaha generator, brand new starter, extra distributor, German regulator, and so many other parts are also for sale but not included in the price. We can discuss them for ridiculous prices, if anyone is interested.

Please only serious people. Any shipping is buyer’s responsibility. You need to arrange for that please. Cash is the king.
