1980 Vanagon Price: $7500
2.1L rebuilt engine
No accidents in my ownership and every mechanic comments on the good condition of the frame and how well it shifts gears.
-refinished pop top with new tent (winter 2013)
-new brakes (front and back, spring 2018)
-new starter (spring 2015)
-rear axles (late spring 2014)
-new exhaust (fall 2017)
-rebuilt engine swap (spring 2013)
-camper hookups replaced (spring 2013)
Parts I have and haven't had time to install...
-new gas gauge and overflow tubing
-window seals (missing a couple for the front windows)
-a few random smaller parts that I can't think of off the top of my head
All parts I have will be included in the sale of the van if you want them.
The body shows signs of rust and the middle body panel on the driver side needs patched or replaced due to rust under the camper connections. Overall, it looks rough (it's from 1980!) but runs really well and is very reliable. My girlfriend, 2 dogs and myself called it home for a couple of years and it has been my daily driver since. In case you missed that...it's been my daily driver for years. Every "issue" the van has is cosmetic.
I'm not using it to it's potential anymore and don't have the time to put the work into it. So, if you are looking for fun project to tinker and refinish into something collectible or want something ready to live out of for a cheaper price than the modern panel van fad that is happening let me know!
I also have a 10'x20' shade tent that attaches to the side door (not an add-a-room) and the back snap on bug screen.
