1985 Vanagon Westfalia Full Camper 101K miles   Price: 12750
I am selling my 1985 bronze beige metallic Westy 1.9 L automatic. It has just over 101,000 miles. It is a GL model, its features include a tachometer, armrests on the front swivel seats, and rear wiper.

The previous owner updated its camper systems, replacing the pop top canvas, auxiliary battery system, and starting battery in 2015. The body and interior are in very good condition, as you can see from the photos. Over the past 1.5 years I have been working on updating its mechanical systems. I have replaced the fuel lines, injector seals, gas tank, gas tank seal kit, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, coolant expansion tank and level probe, rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, front and rear shocks, CV axle grease and boots, and much more. I have full service history for the time that I have owned it, plus some service history from previous owners. All four tires plus the spare match and have good tread. This van came with air conditioning, but a previous owner removed many of the parts. I have since acquired all of the parts necessary to bring the air conditioning back to functional condition, but have not installed them, they are included in the sale if you want them. It comes with all of the owner’s manuals, all of the curtains, plus a screen for the back hatch and a large size Bus Depot EZ awning, including the jacking point mounting kit in case you are parked where you can’t stake it.

Flaws: a previous owner had it painted, including some rust repair. Some seams were removed in this process. The paint itself is shiny. It has a few minor bubbles popping through this paint job. I did a couple of dent and rust repairs, and my touch-up paint did not match exactly. You can see it in the pictures if you look closely. The body is very straight, and has no rust holes. It has a small automatic transmission fluid leak, which I have dealt with by topping up the transmission fluid every 6 months or so. I believe the 1.9 liter gasoline engine to be original to this car, so it has 101K miles on it. It burns a small amount of oil, about a quart every 1000 miles. The rear windshield washer does not work, and I have not taken the time to troubleshoot why.

I put 6000 miles on it in the past 1.5 years, taking it camping in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Delaware and Pennsylvania. It has been a reliable and fun vehicle for me. I had no intention of selling it, but after I did all this work, another Vanagon found me and I couldn’t pass it up. So I ended up buying that one as well, and now I have two. The new one (Which is actually older!) is more suited to what I am looking for, specifically, it has a manual transmission and working air conditioning. I can only drive one at a time, so this one has to go.

The first person to hand me $12,750 takes it. No lowball offers, please. I plan to hold onto this van until I get my price, which I believe to be very reasonable. If you are interested but not near Delaware, we might be able to work out a way for me to deliver the van by driving it to you. I am always up for a new camping adventure, and so is this van!
