1967 Deluxe Sunroof VW Beetle Original Paint   Price: $22,000
This is an unrestored, numbers-matching 1967 Beetle Deluxe Sedan with sunroof. The (original) paint color is Zenith blau (Zenith blue), one of the most desirable colors for this year. The car still has the crayon markings (M-codes) under the original cardboard liner (see photo) and crayon markings in the wheel wells.

VIN: 117 292 991
Engine Number: HO 475 668

The car was built at the Wolfsburg factory in Germany on November 4, 1966, and left on November 28, 1966 bound for the USA. Brian and Terry Young bought this Beetle from Imported Motors, 725 Wyoming N.E., in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on April 22, 1967. They also choose the following dealer options: rear speaker, sapphire VI radio with fader switch, sunroof, shoulder harness; a wind deflector (see photo) was installed later by the dealer as a thank-you to gift to Brian for recommending Imported Motors to a friend.

The stock 53-horsepower, 1493-cc. engine was professionally rebuilt at 130,000 miles by Lanny Hussey Custom Cars. I wanted to keep it 100% stock, so I sourced a matching set of extremely difficult to find 1500cc 83 mm pistons—slighter higher compression T3 units—from the Netherlands. The engine tin was sandblasted and painted semi-gloss black. 66 individual metal pieces from the engine were plated in dull silver cadmium. A new clutch, throw out bearing, muffler (Dansk), heater boxes, tail pipes, heater hoses, gaskets, bowden tube, and genuine 12 volt black bosch coil were also installed.

Currently 139,000 miles. 9,000 on the rebuilt original engine.

The interior is all original except the driver’s front seat, which was professionally reupholstered. The German sheet metal is original including the fenders and deck lid. All windows except the front windshield are period correct Sekurit glass.

Accessories I added include an NOS glove box shelf, removable custom-fitting seat covers, Wolfsburg crest logo threshold plates, a four-piece custom coco mat set, a shift lock, and a Kamei parcel tray. The car is currently riding on a set of 165R15 American Classic ¾ inch radial whitewall tires. Front and rear bumpers are the matching originals stamped VW 4-6.

During my seven years of ownership, I replaced the following components with German OEM parts from Wolfsburg West: steering damper, transmission mounts, front wheel bearings, front hood seal, horn, tie rods, fuel lines, gas tank, axle boots, NOS flasher relay, starter, oil sensor, front and rear shocks, brake lines, brakes, fuel lines, running boards, window seals, sunroof seal and windshield.

Included is the original bill of sale and the original keys in a leather pouch stamped with the Dealership's name, address, telephone phone number and the Porsche and VW logos. Also, maintenance manual, New Mexico registrations, and all maintenance records/documentation dating back to when the car was first sold are included. I also have the car's birth certificate from the Sitting Auto Museum Volkswagen in Wolfsburg.

Meticulously maintained and cared for over the years. Always garaged. Needs nothing. This is truly a beautiful, one of a kind original paint survivor car.

Serious inquires only. Car is located in Vancouver, BC. Buyer must arrange transport. Payment to be sent in US dollars via wire transfer.
