1976 German Single Cab   Price: 19500-24500 CAD
Rare Single Cab truck available for the right price … we don’t need to sell it but will consider if the right buyer & price comes up. Simply considering sale for other stuff/projects. Drive as is or restore to your likes. Truck is currently stored for winter.

Please read all the details before contacting as we tried to list all details as best as possible.

Imported from Germany (not sure when) without the gates, hence the wood rails.

This model has front blinkers only, 1156 bulbs, the head lights light are the park lights (factory).

The rear lights are normal but have no reverse lights (factory). All light lenses are original Hella in good shape. All lights and horn work, including door switches for cab light.

Paint looks mostly original but it’s possible it had an over spray. I believe the white top paint is aftermarket and it is some type of vinyl paint, it’s pretty much shot but looks cool. The rocker panels are solid and straight except for a spot on each side where it looks like the truck was jacked up on the rocker panels... minor dents.

The rear quarter panels could use some metal, they are currently patched up.
The floor under the gas tank was replaced with correct corrugated metal and POR15’d. The new floor goes a little bit into the cargo area. It’s not perfect, but solid and looks great.

Typical surface rust inside the gas tank area/under truck bed which is caused by condensation from the tank. Battery tray was badly patched up with metal, could use some touch ups but solid and usable as is. The rear wheel wells have some rust damage at the rear bottom seams but otherwise solid. The frame is very nice and still has some green paint on it.

The deck looks like original paint, it’s banged up a bit but has a great patina look. It has rivets on the deck, not sure why, maybe for the old wood rails or rubber mat.

The front doors have some minor dents as seen in pix.

The front steps have some small rust holes, but rust is “dry”, not rotted. Rust was clean up and steps were POR15’d. The holes were not patched up yet and the steps are solid, no issues to use them.

Factory floor mat in good shape. Solid green floors underneath.

The front nose was banged up and un-repaired. The metal behind the spare tire has some cracks in it and the ‘bubble’ under the window on the driver side also has minor damage. There is a bit of bondo near the ‘bubble’ under the broken antenna.

There is currently no radio/speakers. I use my Bluetooth speaker. Dash does not have the black 'rubber vinyl' coating, it is just the metal. Radio hole has factory blank plate.

Headliner is in bad shape and is currently duct taped, so it doesn’t sag.

New front and rear shocks
New gas tank, fuel pump and gas lines
New sun visors
New steering damper
New axles, CV’s and boots
New PVC kick panels under dash
Seats are all good. Driver seat is not original black leather, it’s beige. 2/3 seat is original black leather.
New Yokohama Load C tires on solid Vanagon wheels with less then 5500kms.

Driver retractable seat belt does not lock, passenger side works like it should, middle seat has lap belt.

Brakes work fine and have not been restored.

Original motor is a 1600 DP and I don’t believe it’s ever been re-built with original carb set up. It worked great but was a little hard to start cold. Otherwise fine.

Truck is currently equipped with a rebuilt 2100cc pancake engine, 40mm Dellorto carbs, Pertronix ignition II, Bosh vac advance distributor and after market engine breather box, GT exhaust and Bosh coil. It runs very well, not perfect at low RPM when cold, and has plenty of pick up and go … certainly a head turner. Used mostly as a grocery getter for last 2 years while continuously doing upgrades. Supreme gas only.

The drivetrain has some sort of posi-track transmission because both wheels leave marks if spinning on earth/gravel/crush stone.

The ignition key works to start but there is an on/off switch to turn on power. One key for cab and cargo doors.

Prices are pretty much fixed but will consider serious reasonable offers.

19500 CAD with the original motor re-installed, not including the pancake engine (to be re-installed in spring pending sale deposit).

24500 CAD with both engines leaving the pancake engine installed.

Cheers - Jay
