1988 Vanagon GL Wolfsburg Edition Price: 8000
1988 Wolfsburg automatic. Runs great and shifts flawlessly. Interior is a 9 out of 10. No rips. Z-bed works perfectly (I obviously didn’t remove the headrests in the photo). The speedo is a replacement that shows 106,538. When I bought the van in 2006, it had 122,000. We drove it La Paz, Baja, where it lived until last year – only being driven about 5 weeks per year on short trips around town and to Cabo. I estimate that I put about 3500 miles total in that time, including driving it to and from La Paz.
Body has a few small issues as indicated in the photos.
Here’s what’s been done:
- New-ish steering rack
- Brand-new compressor (AC blows really cold)
- Brand new battery
- New alternator
- Brand new ignition switch
- New Sieberling 500 tires on stock 14” wheels (probably 1500 miles on them at the most)
- New gas tank seals
- New cooling fan resistor
- New power steering reseal kit
- New headlight clip kit
- New heater valve and cable
- New governor seal
- New passenger and rear hatch lock activators
- New catalytic convertor
- New fuel lines
- Complete tune up
- New Kenwood stereo and new speakers
- And more
After the new cat convertor was installed, it passed smog with flying colors.
It pains me to sell him (Hans), but we don’t drive him much and he deserves a better home. We’ve loved him from day one, and he took us to the end of Baja and back without breaking a sweat.
Will also include a full set of curtains in perfect condition!
