VW Bus (1977 Riviera)   Price: $29,000 OBO
1977 VW Riviera Bus. $29,000 OBO

This is a very reliable daily driver that functions excellently as a camper that sleeps four. She has been meticulously cared for with many parts being replaced over the past 10 years of ownership. (I have ALL of the receipts.) The oil has been religiously changed every 3000 miles and the rebuilt engine has only ever had premium unleaded fuel run through her.

She has a 2.0 fuel injected engine with hydraulic lifters that was completely rebuilt by Mesa West German Automotive and has 27,000 miles on it. Since then, the engine has continued to be maintained by them and they installed new heads on her 13,00 miles ago. A Pertronix Flame Thrower Electronic Distributor helps fire her right up every time and keeps her running strong. She cruises along nicely at 75 mph fully loaded with surfboards on the top, firewood in the top cargo holder, four passengers, and enough gear for an entire weekend of beach camping. (She will go faster as I’ve seen 85 on the speedo) See the list below of the major work and new parts she has had over the past 10 years. California smog legal and passes inspection every two years. The oil and filter have been changed every 3000 miles and only premium unleaded gas is ever put into her.

She was repainted in 2017 a beautiful Ford Grabber Blue and Ford Oxford white. Body work at that time included all of the window sills being cut out and replaced to eliminate all of the rust in those areas and a new battery tray was installed. She is a Southern California bus so she’s now free of any rust. At that time, Noico 80 mil car sound deadening insulation was installed throughout her to make for a very quiet ride.

The beautiful fun interior has been completely rebuilt using the original cabinet design as a template. The wood is plyboo which is bamboo plywood. Beautiful and tough. The floor is also bamboo wood…not a laminate. The countertop is custom fiberglass. The fully functioning refrigerator is original and runs off of the auxiliary battery or an external 110 volt power source. There is a seven (7) gallon fresh water storage tank for the sink or an external water source can be hooked up. The canvas on the pop up top is original and completely intact and the screens and zippers in it are new and marine grade. A sailmaker installed them.

The cab is also super clean with a crack free dash, new floor mats, added oil pressure, oil temp, and volt meter that can be switched between the main and auxiliary battery. It has very comfortable late model vanagon seats and the passenger seat swivels 360 degree The headliner is new and of course there is a blue tooth radio along with hands free phone capabilities. Everything in it is fully functioning including: windshield wipers, heat, heat fan, emergency flashers, etc. Even has an auxiliary USB jack in the glove box.

The kids have grown up and it’s time for the wife and I to get something bigger so we can still camp but with a few more luxuries. For the past 10 years, we have dearly love this bus but it is time to part with her.
