1974 VW Thing 1776 dual carbs, freeway flyer,   Price: 12500
1974 VW Thing in good condition. Previous owner upgraded the engine and tranny, he does not remember what size the engine is, he does remember that it is bigger than the stock 1600, and he does remember that it is a balanced engine. i have had many VWs and my best guess is that is is a 1641 cc or a 1776 cc built with reliability over excessive horsepower. What I can tell you for sure is that is has dual Weber Carbs, external oil cooler, the engine has a nice low idle, It runs good and it does not over heat in stop and go traffic. Although I got six classic cars I have been driving it about once a week for the last year and I am impressed this this car. runs and drives nice for a classic air cooled VW. I can tell it does have a freeway flyer trans, with taller 3rd and 4th gears. You can drive it 70 plus MPH and still have a low RPM. New CV joints axles too.

Paint body; Newer pumpkin orange paint, It does have evidence of previous body work at front apron. very nice body, no rust, looks like quality paint was used, with a nice deep clear coat. battery tray replaced

Interior; New convertible top (3 month old), side curtains have new clear plastic, new back seats, original front seats

electrical; all the important stuff works, gauges, Headlights, brake/tail lights, horn, wiper, glove box light, Hazards all work

New through the bumper exhaust system, 4 folding cup holders, 4 seat belts, new windshield and gasket.

Number matching body and pan, clean title, current registration

Wheels; Porsche Speedster style rims with "B" offset to give it a little wider stance. More than 90% tire tread.

Just did a tune up. Checked head torque, adjusted values, set points, sync carbs.

$12,500 I think my price is fair and sober for a Thing of this quality. I do have the ability to be a little flexible on the price. I may be willing to pay for half of your shipping cost if in the 48 states. I live in The Sacramento area and my parents live in Southern California(Yucca Valley). So if you live between Sacramento and Yucca Valley I may be willing to deliver it for free. You can pay with check but car can not leave my house until payment clears my bank. Best deal is cash in person.

Thanks Danny all questions are welcome, ok to text, but i prefer phone calls. 916 508 1306
