Jurassic 53 barndoor   Price: $72500
January of 53 patina monster. 100% OG exterior that only Mother Nature can create. Lowered by the World Famous Butcher Shop in the Holy City of Slam Gabriel CA with 2 liter motor that runs strong. One of the thru bolts that hold the air cleaner down broke. I have it tied down w zipties from a roadside repair. It could stand to have a new base. I never bothered.

The bus was off the road for the past 6 years or so. I got it running and driving again and did the brakes. Iím not a pro at VWs but can make them go. You may have higher standards than I do. If so, please, go nuts. Do whatever you think the bus needs. The bus has been off the road, it'll need to be dialed in.

OG Barndoor features include a dried and cracked front floor mat, decent Barndoor cargo mat, operational ribbed semaphores and ultra rare American Barndoor headlight lenses. Front and six leg middle seat were reupholstered by Octavio. Rear seat is out of a an early non Barndoor deluxe. That means the frame is like a Barndoor. The seams are blown out and the padding is gone. Backrest is from a 63 Kombi. I recently attempted to install a headliner. It should be tightened up some or possibly redone. The interior panels are out of a Swedish Barndoor so I reconfigured the long panel. They are decent but far from noice.

Wheels are pretty nice OG Sears Raders that will clean up nicely. They have been machined for 14mm studs. Rears have 3/8Ē spacers. Front brakes are the fatter 63 only brakes and spindles. Rear is Type3 all done by George Schmidt. Trans built by Dean Chon.

This bus has been in all the magazines with features in AIRMIGHTY, I love VW bus as well as being in the new PATINA VW book.

Hursts are OG that I had chromed by top quality locals Frankfort Plating.

The bus is incredibly solid with the only areas needing attention are the rockers and middleseat mounts. I rigged up some thrubolts and angle iron to secure the seat. It looks right from the top and works. The bus has a drivers side front blowout which caused damage to the body and jackpoint and outrigger. None of this will stop it from hauling ass down the freeway. There are areas with pinholes and areas that are thin. Ask for pictures of specific areas. The bus is nearly 70 years old and never welded.

Bus is located in Philadelphia and is available for inspection. Ask questions. Itís up to you to decide if the bus is right for you. NO TRADES. If you have to ask your wife, bring her along and we can dicker.
